I glossed right over that on first read...I've never seen it spelled that way before.
"Globble yobble yobble!"
Also, gotta love the t-shirt.

@1477 It's so uncommon that I nearly complained about not properly checking spelling... until I remembered that several loan words have alternate spellings, and that I ought to follow my own advice. Both spellings are correct, but "brusque" is way more common (such as it is; the word is somewhat uncommon in general) than "brusk." What's more, there's actually argument for either spelling (English borrows the word most directly from French, which would favor the former spelling... but it originally comes from a Latin word that would suggest the latter spelling). So, you know, just another case of what happens when English does its usual word-looting ways.
For today's comic, this actually has me wondering something important... can Varia take on multiple powers by contact with multiple people at once? I know we're just dealing with locker room shenanigans at the moment, but it don't take a lot of imagination to figure out how that might be extremely valuable.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. This strip was really funny...we have a trope for what’s happening here, don’t we?
Also, I have to admit that Jiggawatt makes me cringe a little everytime she shows up, because her code name immediately makes me think of the racial slur. I didn’t know about the B2TF reference until the comments in the previous strip, and it’s obviously not what the creator intended with the name, but that word association is stuck in my head and it hasn’t rerouted yet.

I'd ask what Math did to deserve this, but we already know.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Could be worse for them - imagine if Max hadn't cut her gleam down.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Hindsight is 20/20. Although, nice Lateral Thinking, Sydney. You just need to voice your ideas more often... assuming they don't get lost in the craziness that is most of what comes out of your mouth.
Lateral? I don't think Sidney's thinking is confined to three paltry dimensions.
Trump delenda estI just got back from doing the MIT Mystery Hunt, and I can confirm that it's amazing just how often people capable of doing complex mathematics in their head can miss the simple solution.

I like this. Sydney comes up with occasional insights, but really isn't a sustained "here's another great idea" kind of person. That makes sense.
ADHD is like throwing dice at times.
Deus is in business, and a dissertation on Harem spankings.
To answer the question in the little blurb, she strikes me as the type who has a chip in her gauntlets/bracers that works as a key.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Didn't even realize that was Sciona. I assumed it was yet another creature type interested in the artifacts.
Huh, it was pretty obvious to me that it was Sciona.
I mean, we haven't seen any other characters with both silver skin and giant glowing energy tendril wings, so...
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)I do hope this is the part where Deus suffers a minor defeat due to underestimating his adversary. I mean, I get that he has to be the Big Bad in the end and is unlikely to be replaced by lay drow here, but it would humanize him a bit more.
Villains always seem a bit more competent in my eyes if their successes aren't so obviously powered by plot. Let him have a minor set-back here and learn from the experience.
I partly suspect such attitudes are, well, partly dependent on the character's reaction to failure. If they're able to shrug it off, internally or even just externally, it's not nearly as satisfying to watch, nor accomplishing that goal enough (at least, it seems to me), if they're, at least, visibly perturbed by it.
Scions still on the ropes? Although we also haven't seen indication that she's more than annoyed at getting defenestrated...
Love Sydney's last comments there.
Also, because I'm an editor by trade and I'm reflexively "that guy," I really dislike that spelling of "brusque" (technically, it is correct, but very uncommon).
