I occasionally think about original chiptune music. Not sure if there's any one definitive source, but here are some places to look for chiptunes that didn't originate from retro games:
- Youtube. I had some success finding original music, or "retro" versions of recent music with keywords such as "chiptune remix."
- Freemusicarchive.org
- 8bc.org
- Last.fm
- iTunes

I hate it when "8 Bit Remix" videos can't tell the difference between Nintendo synth and Commodore 64 synth.

May be nitpicking, but wouldn't that rather go under "Music"?

By which I mean original music tracks that are made to sound like something on the NES.
For example, what if the NES had a sequel to Bionic Commando?
