Project Dreamscape: Liberated Liberater's Light Novel project

I've been procrastinating about making a thread for my own project, so here, I finally decide to make on in Writer's Block. Presenting: Project Dreamscape (tentative name)

Summary:

There exists an alternate reality where souls go to dream — the Dreamscape. Here, the souls of humans who sleep become encased in cocoons which allow them to dream in peace. The souls of people who die return to the Dreamscape, where Reapers prepare their soul for reincarnation or return the soul to the lifestream if they can no longer reincarnate. Souls who still have attachments to the world become ghosts who wander this realm.

And there are humans who can enter a dream-like state which allows their soul to walk the Dreamscape consciously — Soul Walkers. While a soul is in this state, they can perform a form of magic, "Dreamcasting", which allows them to conjure from their thoughts whatever they desire.

There are certain Soul Walkers whose task is to eliminate ghosts with malevolent intents and prevent them from reincarnating. And there are Soul Walkers who are just in it for the power it gives them in the alternate reality. A certain Ordinary High-School Student gets dragged into all this after his dream cocoon gets permanently shattered in a fight between two Soul Walkers, causing him to lose the ability to dream and getting sent into the Dreamscape every night when he sleeps...

So there, that's pretty much the basic summary. In my head, I planned this to be pretty much Persona meets Nasu Verse-style Functional Magic (incidentally, I've also plotted out most of the magic system of the Dreamscape). I'd like to hear comments about the premise first before asking help with the plot itself.

It'd the classical premise of the ordinary guy who finds another world, gets involved in serious business there, and becomes a hero along the way. There isn't really anything to comment on, with just that.
