So is anybody thinking of getting the new x-men game named x-men destiny

X-Men: Destiny is an upcoming video game based on the X-Men comic book series. It is currently being developed by Silicon Knights and is planned to be published by Activision. It is currently scheduled to be released in September 2011.[3] The story is being written by Mike Carey, writer of the X-Men: Legacy comic book series.[4] The game was announced at the 2010 New York Comic Con on October 9, 2010. It will be released on the Play Station 3, Wii, Xbox 360, and Nintendo 3DS.[1]. Activision has stated at SDCC that the game has been confirmed for a September 27, 2011 date in North America

In X-Men: Destiny, players will be put in the role of new mutants who joins the X-Men or the Brotherhood of Mutants; they will have to make choices to decide the ultimate destiny of their character.[6][7] According to early sources, X-Men: Destiny is placing an emphasis on "choice" as its main focus, as opposed to a more traditional linear type of gameplay. According to the official press release, "the all-new original video game casts players as new mutant recruits in a rich, branching storyline that features a deep element of choice and gives players ultimate control of their destiny".[8] At E3 2011, the hands-off demo demonstrated that throughout the game the player character collects and equips 'X-Genes' which grant the power of an established member of X-Men continuity. These come in three types, offensive, defensive and utility, and can be swapped at any time with other collected X-Genes.[9]

Destiny is based in San Francisco, which has been divided into human and mutant areas due to conflict between the two groups. The game begins at a peace rally being held in memory of the deceased Professor X, where the player chooses from one of three mutant characters to play as, who have been originally created for the game. The game allows for the player to decide which mutants become their allies and enemies through choices made in the course of the story.[10]

[edit] Characters Silicon Knights announced the first new character through UGO, introducing Aimi Yoshida, a fifteen-year-old Japanese girl. Her back-story is that she was smuggled to San Francisco from Japan by her parents to avoid incarceration in a mutant camp. She is described as being too young to understand the reasons why she had to leave, and is angry and bitter at feeling abandoned.[11] A second original character, Grant Alexander, an American student from Georgia with dreams of becoming a professional footballer, was revealed on Super Hero Hype.com.[12] A third character, who had appeared in screenshots originally, was revealed as a character named Adrian Luca, who was a member of an anti-mutant group called The Purifiers which is led by his father until his powers emerged. [13]

Established characters from the X-Men who are confirmed to appear for now include Wolverine, Magneto, Iceman, Cyclops, Emma Frost, Colossus, Gambit, Surge, Nightcrawler, Pixie, Mystique, Northstar, Quicksilver, Pyro, Toad, Caliban, Forge and Juggernaut, with other X-Men characters also expected to appear.[14][15] Kotaku also ran an article, stating that players can get the costume of Alex Summers aka Havok, DLC costumes early if they were to pre-order through Game Stop.[16]

[edit] Cast Jamie Chung, Milo Ventimiglia and Scott Porter were confirmed to voice Aimi Yoshida, Grant Alexander and Adrian Luca respectively.[17

I'll definitely be looking into this one. Which character is everyone planning on using? I'll most likely use Aimi, though Adrian sounds interesting too.

You are not alone, and you are not strange. You are you, and everyone has damage. Be the better person.

Kept hoping that Psylocke will make it. SOMEHOW.

And would it hurt to hope that Steve Blum is called in for Wolverine... AGAIN?

It looks interesting but it's not making me really care enough to go and preorder it. If it's any good, I might grab it once the price drops.

Suits my state of mind right now...

As much as I hate to say this...I think this one's gonna be a flop. The story sounds like it has some potential, but the handful of gameplay vids I've seen are pretty uninspiring. From what I've seen, it's just a mindless beat 'em up with a power set that's pretty much limited to just flinging around energy blasts. And the graphics seem pretty sub-par (though they may just be incomplete).

I hope I'm wrong. I've been a hardcore x-fan since I was five, and I'd love to see a good X-Men game that isn't just another dungeon crawler. Playing Arkham Asylum kinda ratcheted up my standards for superhero games. I'd like to see someone else follow their example with a Marvel hero. Whatever. I'll wait for the reviews...

[up][up] There is, but it's really bare bones. X Men Destiny

This kinds looks like the inFAMOUS franchise and the X-Men universe had a child somehow. Part of me wants to get this when I get my next paycheck, part of me wants to wait for a demo to be released on the PSN. If they release one.

I was going to get it....then I learned you have to play a "predefined" character. Pass.

You will never love a women as much as George Lucas hates his fans.

They could've made it more like Dragon Age's character creation (you create your look, pick a class, then go through an "origin" starting quest), but I don't see the three precreated characters as a dealbreaker.

That's too bad. I got turned off by the 3 character thing. Maybe that's why it got such little hype pre release, creators knew it wasn't top notch.

Actually I'm watching a Let's Play of it right now and it doesn't seem too bad so far...
