Okay, so in my worldbuilding project, the Stellarum, I plan to tell many different stories. My intention is for each novella/novel/collection of short stories/whatever to contain a preface that quickly summarises the setting (in a similar vein as the various Warhammer and Warhammer 40 K books).

I've created a preface, but I'm not sure how well it actually works, so here goes nothing...

Light & Darkness
Discipline & Freedom

A billion light-years away from our tiny blue dot lies the Stellarum. It contains over 100 trillion stars, and more planets, moons, and random bits of aimless rock than you could possibly count in a hundred life-times.
It is filled with life and light and shadow.

And it is gripped in a conflict that sunders worlds and destroys lives.

Eons ago the First Kind, the Valgirai, separated the galaxy in two behind the Wall to wage a bloody crusade against foul abominations from the depths of worlds. They entrusted the younger races care with their allies: the Myriad, the EGO's, and the numberless legions of the Servants of Harmony.

But the worlds lie scattered and broken across the Stellarum, as the forces of Discord lay siege to all that is good and pure and peaceful. The tales of the Stellarum are many: most are small, others are grand. Most have been forgotten to the passing of time and the fickleness of death. But some are still told.

These are the histories of the Stellarum. Please enjoy.
