Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

It would be interesting to have a villain whose evil even makes the audience suffer...

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I guess I just like the idea of the Marvel movies using different powerhouses after Hemsworth and maybe Ruffalo's contracts run out. Like, how weird would it be to see Beta Ray Bill or Blue Marvel front and center in major motion pictures?

Yes, I thought I made that pretty clear...
Oh God! Natural light! He apparently doesn't know that the foreplay is sometimes better than the release....
@18769: People are overly focused on race and it would be funny to see them go, as Son of Sharknado puts it, crazy-town banana pants over Kamala being cast as a white girl. Besides which what's there to say white people can't be Muslim too? ;-P
@18770: Who ever said it would be a good idea? It would be funny initially, but their pissing and moaning would get old quickly. ;-P

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Let's not. Because good representation of other races and cultures in media is important, even if most male comic fans don't think so.
Hey don't lump me in there.
My various fanfics.Even putting aside white-washing a minority character for the lulzzz, part of Kamala's beginning arc is about wanting to be white and blond to better fit in with the other kids at school and with what the image of female superheroes is.
She goes from subconsciously shapeshifting into Carol Danvers to this◊ and that's neat.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersRegardless, I don't see the fuss over Kamala either way. Quirky fangirl who's suddenly a hero now has been done.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Just because you don't care about her doesn't mean other people don't.
But she's awesome. She's basically Marvel's Jaime Reyes.
And she has Lockjaw! The greatest dog sidekick in all of comics!
My various fanfics. Not a particular fan of Jaime either. Except for the Brave and the Bold version.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!I'm just kind of glad you don't run comics, geez.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAs I am equally glad you don't.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! If Eagal ran comics, the country would see a shortage in peach ink.

My various fanfics.I only know that he's some Hispanic/Latino (Not really sure which applies to him, nor motivated enough to look up the differences at the moment.) guy with an alien amnesiac parasite robot on his back. Cool kid that tries to be a hero.
But people who understand importance of representation in comic books (as I'm sure Bocaj does) do in fact, write and draw these comic books. So yeah. Even if they might not run the comic book industry as a whole.
Kamala's creators include an actual Muslim woman, and that's pretty neat. And her being a teenager who's part of a Muslim family isn't depicted in a negative or stereotypical way.

And all his friends and family are super supportive of his being a superhero and do shit. It bucks all the trends! His best friend beat the shit out of an alien that was trying to kill Jaime with a stick.
My various fanfics. That Muslim mutant's got a cool power. Sand girl.
@18794: Nah. I'd go whole hog and mandate that every character be literally white. None of that "light skinned" nonsense.
@18796: Maybe they do. That's got nothing to do with Bocaj.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!See, I went for white ink, but then I thought that wouldn't make sense.
