managed to track down the first game and man is it weird.

I can buy something from a town where it's plentiful, bring it to a town where it's scarce and its selling at a loss.

how does that make any sense? I grabbed meat from a town where there was 30 units for like 200 per unit, brought it to a town where there was two units and they'd only buy meat for 100 a unit. the fuck?

Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?

What's weird is that they just announced it would be coming out for 360 and PS 3, too.

The first two games had issues. The 3rd game seems to have cleared those up.

I've played a lot of Port Royale 3. I liked the concept of the game in theory, but after a while, I found it deeply unsatisfying. The game had this "reputation" system, which meant that, in order gain access to certain game mechanics, you'd first have to fulfil certain conditions, the most important of which was having a big pile of money.

So I'd put in the work, slowly expanding my operation over the course of hours of game time, until finally I'd be allowed to interact with the game mechanic I wanted to interact with in the first place. But by that time, those mechanics had become pointless, because they could only be used to make more money, of which I already had more than I knew what to do with. So the only thing I could do with the access I've earned is make a now pointless number go up even more.

I'm not sure how much of that is a legit flaw in game design, or me just not "getting" capitalism. Either way, I hope they fixed it.
