Which version?
The New Age of Awesome is here! Not even the sky is the limit!Xbox 360.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I'm personally of the opinion that this game blows Mario Kart completely out of the water.
It's a shame we'll never get a sequel.
You are not alone, and you are not strange. You are you, and everyone has damage. Be the better person.@Beta Ray: How do you know that?
I am completely, utterly, and thoroughly done with Sola Sonica and 2DI agree, this game is just plain awesome. The driving is fun, the stages are cool, and the races are exciting. And I love the Mythology Gags - my disappointment that every single Sonic stage was from Heroes was quickly wiped away when I entered one of the Curien stages and was confronted by The Tower!
But I gotta say, I think I hate the Monkey Ball stages. Especially the Pirate one - it starts out alright, and then it throw a series of nearly-impossible-to-traverse-unless-your-cart-has-great-handling U-Turns.
Pretty much all of the Monkey Ball stages require better than average driving and turning skill - with their sharp and frequent 90 degree turns, but that's the first one where if your cart doesn't have inherently great handling you're going to downright suffer, hands down. Would it have killed them to make the U-Turns a little bit wider?
Edit: Eventually had to give up on the Grandprix and beat the Monkey Cup as someone different. Oy.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. You're two years late to make a thread like this, but I don't care.
It's up there with Crash Team Racing and Diddy Kong Racing (the originals, not the "sequel" or the DS remake) as Mario Kart clones done right. The computer doesn't cheat as much as most racing games, and there's actually the option to turn off "rubber-band" AI (which may or may not make things easier for you).
Amigo's my favorite character to use, mostly because sombrero wearing monkeys are awesome, and I tend to win most online races with him, stumping the Shadow players.
Also, it seems that Sonic Heroes is the Wesley. Nobody really cared about it (I thought it was mediocre myself), but Sega keeps referencing the hell out of it compared to the previous games, especially Seaside Hill.
"Pancakes. Oh, I blew it." - Joel Hodgson Nobody better lay a Butterfinger on my 3DS!Really? The only games I've ever seen it referenced in are this one and Generations.
You know what's irritating me, though? I downloaded Metal Sonic and Death Egg, and they're not showing up anywhere.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Sounds good. Been meaning to pick this up, but I wanna wait till I get a 360 (mostly for Banjo, I admit).
Which drivers do you use?
The New Age of Awesome is here! Not even the sky is the limit!I own the DS version, and i use the HELL out of Shadow, for his Game Breaker potential. I also use DR. Eggman, Sonic and Amy (even though i'm a guy.. >_< ), however I never use them on Medium/Hard Grand Prixes. Favorite track is Deadly Route and Bingo Party. *sigh* If only the JSRF tracks aren't that short...Favorite Music? All 3 House of-err, "Curien Mansion"'s tracks. E.G.G.M.A.N. is also good, as is Monkey Island...
Also, why the hell didn't they include The Magician/Emperor/Wheel of Fate instead of Zobio/Zobiko? And i really want to see, say, Crazy Taxi and Sega Rally circuits as DLC...
There won't be anymore DLC. Sega has complete say over what could be released, not the developers Sumo Digital, and they decided on Metal Sonic and the Death Egg level, because they figured there wasn't enough Sonic material in the game as it is. This is the reason why Segata Sanshiro, Toejam & Earl, and Vyse won't be put in the game.
Also, blame the ban in Germany for the bowdlerization of House of the Dead material. The developers, Sumo Digital, are based in the UK, and Zobio and Zobiko were the closest thing to "kid friendly" that they could get for a Europe release without the Germans harassing them.
"Pancakes. Oh, I blew it." - Joel Hodgson Nobody better lay a Butterfinger on my 3DS!I mainly use Sonic, Knuckles, Beat, and the guys from Shenmue and Crazy Taxi whose names I can't remember at the moment. Big too, as he's fun for trolling the countless Shadow players online.
You are not alone, and you are not strange. You are you, and everyone has damage. Be the better person.- sigh* It's just weird how the same country that brought the world Hitler and Nazis decides a little series about shooting zombies is much more violent than the Holocaust...plus the last track on the Curien Mansion is named 'Deadly' Route, which kinda nulls the censorship in the first place...
^ They're not allowed to have reservations about things because Hitler was from their country? And who said they thought it was more violent than the Holocaust?

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Hey, i'm not THAT serious about the Hitler & Holocaust thing...but you agree with me on the Deadly Route part, right? ^_^;;
I don't really care too much about the censorship in this game, don't mind House Of The Dead being abbreviated, and I kind of like Zobio and Zobiko. They're not my favorite racers, and I'd rather have G I think, but I prefer them to playing as any of the games' final bosses - that'd just seem off to me.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.@Krazy Kopter: they do have a shot to appear in a sequel.
I am completely, utterly, and thoroughly done with Sola Sonica and 2DI downloaded Metal Sonic and Death Egg, unlocked everything, and MS and the stage are still not showing up anywhere! Am I doing something wrong?
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Yay, a thread for this game! :D (You spelled the title wrong, btw.)
I play as Banjo, Ulala, and Avatar. Sometimes I use other characters.
I agree that Sonic Heroes gets overrepresented, but this is still a great game. I'll definitely buy the sequel if it includes Vector or a Mario character.
Maybe you need to delete the DLC and redownload.

Is Vectorman still in Sega's court?
The New Age of Awesome is here! Not even the sky is the limit!Well, it's official. Amigo has the best drift and boost capabilities in the game by far. I mean, holy signifying monkey it's ridiculous.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Vectorman is still owned by SEGA and needs a new game. Much like Streets of Rage, Bug! and Clockwork Knight.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaire
Looked through all twenty of our pages and couldn't find a topic for this, so I'm making one.
Just got it today, and I must say, it's definitely fun, if unexpectedly difficult, especially in comparison to Mario Kart - say what you want about MK's "first place is death place" antics, at least there when you fall out of first it's not particularly hard to get back, at least against the computer. Here it's always neck and neck, it seems, and even if you fall behind early it can be a trial to get to the first three in time for the end of the race, let alone first place.
And so far, after a few grandprix, I have yet to obtain a single All Star. I've been doing a lot of coincidentally being directly in front of people who have All Stars, though. It's really good for getting to the front of the pack when they guy directly behind you gets an All Star, goes nowhere but stops you from advancing, goes back to being behind you, and then gets it again.
All in all, though, a very fun game. Glad I bought it.
