Last night I spent some time playing Warhammer 40k Kill Team with my brother.

Today, I remembered how there's a Warhammer 40k MMORPG in development, and I wondered how they could stay true to the game's squad-based mechanics.

Just now, I remembered Monday Night Combat. I haven't felt this good about an idea in a LONG time.

I'm thinking:

APOTHECARY: Short chainsword and bolter pistol, but can heal the AI controlled squads that follow you around.

CHAPLAIN: Close combat expert, and can encourage the AI units. Capable of taking a Jump Pack.

LIBRARIAN: Psyker powers, both offensive and defensive.

TECHMARINE: Can drop turrets to provide fire support.

Like MNC, success in battle depends on the AI squads, whose survival is YOUR priority. Like in Dawn of War, you can attach to a squad, who'll move with you rather than simply head for the nearest target. The three types of squads that definitely need to be in the game are:

TACTICAL SQUAD: Middle of the road in both ranged and melee combat. Bolters can be replaced with more specialized weaponry.

ASSAULT SQUAD: Close combat squad equipped with jump packs. Vulnerable to long-range fire.

DEVASTATOR SQUAD: Long range Anti-armor squad. Heavy firepower, low mobility when firing plus weakness in close combat means very situational use.
