As a note if you go for Trails of Cold Steel 1 and 2... you'll want to play those back to back. Also, Cold Steel 1 definitely has a Persona 4 feel in some respects.

As for recommendations, I'll toss my hat in for Child of Light as well, especially since you mentioned Grandia. The game's battle system is seemingly inspired by it.

I'm also enjoying Stranger of Sword City a lot, but it can be very unforgiving and it's light on story, though it has more than your typical DRPG. It's a game that in spite of not finishing it yet I still find myself coming back to it when the mood strikes me for some hardcore dungeon crawling.

Two year necro for sad news:

In an interview with Famitsu at Tokyo Game Show 2018, Sony Interactive Entertainment vice president said they will be ending production of the Vita in 2019 in Japan.

Welp, one more last sad necro:

According to the developer for the Kickstarted game, Sense: A Cyberpunk Story, Sony Interactive Entertainment will cut-off the ability to add games to the Vita sometime in early 2020.

Vita is life, but all life ends someday.
