Fate X/Y, The Amazing Tale of The Nth Holy Grail War
For creating what is essentially a cartoon porn game, if a damn awesome one at that, dear old Nasu came up with a pretty fantastic formula instantly appealing to geeks such as us. Mythological heroes from all over the world fighting each other in the modern age, guided by wizards, having sex to regain their mana?
It's freaking brilliant.
It comes as no surprise, than, that a favorite pastime of fans and non-fans of the series is making up hypothetical HGW's and running them in their heads, mostly for the chance to imagine how various legendary heroes would look as sexy women.
Also, awesome.
I recall such a topic popping up before on this very website, though I can't for the love of it find it now. Probably deleted or something.
Anyway, shall we go, then?
Raw ideas here for you to judge, elaborate upon, or shoot down:
Saber Types:
Amir Arsalan: Hero of a famous Persian legend and wielder of the magical sword Shamshir-e Zomorrodnegar, an emerald encrusted blade that can slay demons and provides great protection from evil magic.
Story also involves a magical cup, not a stretch to make a Noble Phantasm of it. Think Prince of Persia. Think Aladdin, if you'd like, although that's taking it a bit too far.
Archer Types:
Pecos Bill: A revolver is no bow, but that doesn't make it one bit less awesome. Pecos Bill the mythological cowboy is a rare example of relatively modern "heroic spirit" if there ever was any, and has a personality that would probably fit right in a F S/N kind of take. He can shoot the stars out of the night sky with his pistol, and rides a terrible horse called Widow-Maker. If genderbent, well, cowgirls are awesome, aren't they?
Orion, The Hunter: Possibly the best hunter the world has ever saw, if Greek mythology is to be believed, so it's far from a stretch to assume that he is one badass archer. Some versions of the story has him as Artemis' lover, others as her rival (maybe she was just a tsundere?), and associated with the constellation bearing his name. May hold a grudge against giant scorpions. Prime target for FS/N style genderbending: there's just that something about a woman with a bow, and if you go with the "Artemis' Lover" story, than, well, lesbians are always great and ancient Greek lesbian demigoddesses even more so.
Caster Types
Koschei the Deathless: a villain in countless Russian folk-tales, and an incredibly menacing and cunning sorcerer (not to mention immortal) would fit perfectly with the Caster archetype. Plus, he's a creepy, yet powerful old man with a taste for young, beautiful girls. The Nasuverse runs on this kind of characters.
Baba Yaga: Slavic mythology never fails to deliver scary evil sorcerers, and just like Koschei, Baba Yaga is a famous, powerful, cunning figure. However, unlike the former, she is far less of an "obvious villain", and many times is simply a mysterious and wise (if very unpleasant) crone who helps those who deserve it. She might actually have an interesting personality. Plus, just imagine it: a chicken legged hut Noble Phantasm. It's just too good to pass.
King Solomon Ben David of Judea: Wisest of men to walk the earth. A righteous king who's only desire was to become the ultimate benevolent judge of his people. A tyrant who was willing to cut the kingdom in half if he couldn't have it. Master of the bible's largest harem by far. A mighty sorcerer who bound ten thousand demons into a magical ring. King Solomon has many faces, all of them fascinating, and would make one hell of an opponent for any mythological figure.
