Can Nintendo afford (as in money) a better online service?

I wouldn't mind seeing an MMO of Pokemon...or Zelda...or Golden Sun...or Fire Emblem...or Mario...or heck, the world of the Subspace Emissary in Brawl.

Pokemon is inherently very MMO-able, probably more so than any other Nintendo series.

People have been begging for a Pokemon MMO for years now, and I don't know why some company didn't make a monster hunting MMO already. Don't have to be pokemon. Monster Rancher, Dragon Warrior, etc...

Good. DLC is right up there with DRM as one of the more depressing trends in gaming.

Um...isn't that news old? Like, "when the 3DS was announced" old?

I don't mind DLC too much, but I'm rather glad that Nintendo won't be using it. I'd rather see the Zelda team work on another full Zelda game than, say, creating a bonus dungeon for an old one that you have to pay $10 for.

DLC is good, especially for multi-player games for balancing and updated content. Even for single-player games like Mass Effect 2, it can be used to bridge the story between games and thus make the wait easier for fans.

Personally I'd like to see the numbers but I suspect that much of what's done for DLC represents people who might not have anything to do during the early development phase of another game. Or they could use DLC as a place to try out new people before they move onto the main show. I don't necessarily subscribe to the idea that if you have people working on DLC then the sequel is being neglected. Hell, Mass Effect 2 had quite a bit of DLC, six missions, a new vehicle, several weapons and character appearance packs, and ME 3 was still moving along at a solid clip.

That would make sense, I suppose, although I'd still rather not have to pay more for stuff. Except I often do anyways, which shows I have no self control.

Sorry, I was probably unclear. What MMOs did MS and Sony make before launching their big online systems?

Yeah, Sony's an old hat with MM Os. As for Microsoft, I think I got the chronology messed up a bit (or a lot). Can't remember if Vanguard was before or way after XBL. At the very least, Microsoft had extensive online services way before the first Xbox.

Microsoft's a computer company. I'd be very disappointed if they couldn't manage an online service. [lol]
