To Wikipedia!

That didn't help.

That didn't help either.

Perhaps they're being meanies and keeping another publisher from releasing the game (and reaping any profit from it); just like how Nickelodeon is extremely cautious about outsourcing DVD rights to old shows!

[up][up] Do it as one word WaterBlue, I didn't put the [==] tag.

So I guess it was something to do with Fire Red and Leaf Green that never materialized. Although this seems different than that, since that game never existed to begin with, as far as I know. On the other hand, this doesn't necessarily mean anything, since if I recall correctly Namco trademarked Tales of VS in America and then never released it. Yes, I'm bitter about that.

IIRC, Electric (or was that Thunder) yellow was done at the same time. Companies register stuff like that all the time for protection.

Let's not forget that NOA trademarked Purple, Grey/Gray, Mahogany, and Transparent along with Pokemon Black And White.

Purple is probably for DENNIS, and Mahogany... maybe Landorus? NOA didn't want to take any chances considering the number of legendaries this gen.

"Keep on dreamin', OP."

What's made you so pessimistic? Have you not forgotten the quite massive fan pressure on NOA to release the game right now?

[up][up][up]Plus this goes in line about what Operation Rainfall said about how Nintendo finished translating Xeno Blade and is working on translating The Last Story.

Nintendo is actually quite receptive to fans. For example, after the release of Brawl and Twilight Princess, they toned down the hype on their games due to the large amounts of Hype Backlash.

Plus, it's not like it's Mother3 or anything, they don't have any legal issues here, and the Wii isn't quite dead yet.

[up] They have legal issues with Earth Bound, not Mother 3.

What I don't get is why NOA doesn't argue that these games are protected by the legal definition of "parody".

Too much effort for such a niche game.

Mother 3 probably didn't get translated because it was one of the last games on a dying system. In Japan, the series is popular enough to compensate, but translating it for America, where the series is only a cult classic, would have been an almost guaranteed loss of profits.
