Part of me thinks paying off Drew would've been preferable to killing him. Imagine how things might've gone if, say, Jesse saw Todd pulling the gun on Drew and tackled him so that the shot missed Drew.
The cold never bothered me anywayYeah, maybe some money or another tarantula would have been enough for him not to mention what happened. Too bad we'll never know though, and it was his parents who paid the price instead.
Anyways, just got to quite a funny part. The part where Walt makes this little comedian sick joke of a confession where he tells that Hank is "actually" the mastermind of the meth empire.
Now that's just RICH, isn't it? I was laughing throughout the whole thing waiting to see how furious Hank would rage out and stayed surprisingly relatively calm. The only thing that would have topped off that feces sundae Walt had presented in that confession was saying at the end how Hank is a "bald fatso". Now that would have been the feces cherry on the feces sundae.
Because man, talk about crap hitting the fan, and then some. At this point, I'm really curious to see what Flynn will think of all this, because he's the one that has been left in the dark about all this the most, and was a big reason I presume Skyler didn't tell the DEA about all of Walt's "drug clowning" sooner.

Yeah.
About the guy in "Rabid Dog" who was waiting for his daughter that Jesse mistook for a hitman that Walt hired and unwittingly ruined the chances of Walt reconciling with Jesse...
Do you think if that guy wasn't there (or if Walt picked a more secluded location to talk to Jesse), Jesse would've eventually ratted Walt out to the DEA anyway?
Maybe, but man, I'm I kinda glad to be almost done with Jesse's role in this show. For as much as I admire his good intentions such as helping little kids get out of bad situations, his tendency to be a loose cannon and yell out outrageous accusations is kinda getting weary on me.
Fun fact Jesse was supposed to be killed in the first season, but his actor was well-received enough his role got extended. Would've been a very different show.
I do hope you'll warm up to Jesse. I remember not liking him much in the first 2 seasons but in hindsight I think his relationship with Walt and his character arc are one of the show's most compelling points.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).There was a lot of happy accidents, coincidences and writing on the fly bits that made Breaking Bad what it is, it's amazing it turned out as well as it did tbh.
Another one, you can tell the first season is more of a black comedy. The writer's strike and learning about Weeds made it shift more towards drama for 2 onwards.
I warmed up to him somewhat after what he did for that kid in the muddle of two drug-fueled parents and what humanity he did have towards injustice, if only for how it specifically affected him, but otherwise, I did never fully warm up to him. That said, it was compelling seeing him interact with Walt. I never did fully figure out why he had him around for all that time though.
Hank talked about it as if Walt was just using Jesse through manipulation, and some might say he had him around so that Walt can make himself look smarter and someone to vent anger on, unlike with Gale, but I dunno. The fact that Walt was willing to go as far as make him a 50/50 partner and never kill him, among other things, might mean that some part of him genuinely liked him despite all the arguments they had and crap that happened. If only in some strange, twisted way, I think I could go as far as to say that Walt saw Jesse as like a second son, at least early on.
That's my gut impression, but it really is too bad Walt basically threw that all away due to ego and all that crap. So many times Walt made situations more complicated that just ended up getting him more angry, and others angry too. Def won't miss all of that drama, despite how compelling it was.

Oh you finished the main series?
Ah, well, have fun with El Camino then. I think your take is spot-on, but El Camino is sort of the "for the fans who want to see Jesse make up for some of his flaws."
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Just finished it. You know, for all of Walt's lame-brained desperate attempts to make himself look like the better man because of him pulling all that nonsense in the name of family, my reaction to him telling Skyler that he did it for me quite surprised me. For the last time in his life after all that happened, he still managed to be honest and upfront on his last day on Earth instead of lying all the way.
Gotta hand it to that old coot, he didn't just go out with a bang, he went as far as to go out with a bang and a glimmer. To that, bravo.
Breaking Bad is quite possibly the only TV show ever that made me decide to rewatch it.
...Once I'm done with all the reading/watchlist backlogs, that is.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I think the only parts I'd rewatch is the stuff with Mike, Gus, and Saul. Pretty much everyone else is too much of an asshole for me to bother with again.

So... Better Call Saul next for you?
Watched all of it. In some ways, I think I liked it better than Breaking Bad. Bagman in particular provided great material for Saul and Mike to bounce off each other with.

Hard to believe it's been a whole decade since the finale. One character I'd like to know more about what happened to is Walt, Jr. Had to have been hard to go from hero worshipping his dad to absolutely loathing him.
I still get chills watching the scene where Walt Jr tackles Walt.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Walt 100% saw Jesse as a second son, and possibly as part of his enduring legacy (as the "heir" to his meth business). It was telling when he misnamed Walt Jr Jesse.
Oissu!Walt never quite threaded the needle of whether he loved Jessie or was just using him.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. On some level Walt probably did care about Jesse as a second son. We see that in their scene from El Camino, he genuinely wants to see Jesse improve his station in life.
You still see him trying to manipulate Jesse here though, in a kind way. He shoots down Jesse's first suggestion but suggests something that makes sense for Jesse.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).What do people here think of Weeds? Must've been frustrating for them to come before Breaking Bad yet lose the Drug-Dealing Parent Show war.
Look I like vulgar, crass, offensive comedy and Weeds squicks me out
It went way off the raiks by Season 5, but the ending was of surprising quality.
I wouldn't hate a Weeds version of El Camino.

So, what was Jesse saying about how no one else can know?
