All Purpose Naruto Fanfiction Thread

There was a Naruto fic a bit ago that popularized self-inserts. Prior to that, Isekai wasn’t as popular in the fandom.

Dreaming of Sunshine, I believe you refer to. From what I've heard, it's a major factor in the way self-inserting isn't the mark of shame in fanfiction in general that it used to be. Good for it, though personally I will never quite grok the appeal of reading about some rando from our world when we could be focusing on actual ninjas.

Clearly the better Isekai option would be to have one of the Naruto character die via sudden car accident (“Eh? What the heck is that thi-GAAAGH!”) and wake up in another world. (Like Planet Namek. Yes, I am aware that any given Naruto character would be hopelessly outmatched by pretty much any recurring named character in DBZ that isn’t Bulma, her parents, or her rarely mentioned sister. That’s part of the fun.)

If I know anything about isekais (disclaimer: I may not know anything about isekais) it's that any jackass sent to another world will end up overpowering the locals regardless of the initial power gap.

I mean they are some attacks from the Naruto verse that would be effective late DBS mainly things like the reaper death seal and human path because they don't care how strong you are(I mean pulling one of them off would take a miracle or two or maybe even more miracles)

And some techniques like Rasenshuriken and Ametrasu could kill them, if they let their guard down. Goku once got hurt by a bullet because he was rusty afterall

Rusty nothing. Goku got hurt by a bullet because he was deliberately suppressing his ki so as not to kill the ordinary human bandits that were attacking him.

Has anybody genuinely tried to write a Naruto/DBZ crossover that explores or merges both settings in a meaningful way, without just trying to have one overpower the other, or have Naruto be a Saiyan who can go Super Saiyan One Million?

Something like Cross Epoch but with Naruto would be best.

The closest thing I can think of that I've read is a fic with Final Arc Sakura being dropped into like early Dragonball. Like just before Krillen and Goku start training under Roshi. Which doesn't really merge the settings and its mostly exploring the DB side of things through Sakura's eyes. But it does sidestep all the ridiculous power level issues. At least so far.

Of course the only other DBZ/Naruto fic I've ever read was one where post Cell Game Gohan got dumped into Wave Arc Naruto and had to go super saiyan to deal with Haku. So you know. Dropped that one pretty quick, even though I'm pretty open to fudging things to make crossovers work, that was just nope.

I think there's a fic where somehow Naruto got merged with Goku Black Zamasu or something like that and has ended up stranded in Universe 6

Figured I'd cross-post this idea from another thread

I want to write a fanfic for Naruto that is an AU set in the 1970's and it's about old-school First Edition Dungeons & Dragons, involving characters from both the Naruto and Boruto series.

The year is 1979 and the place is the little village of Hidden Leaf, a small and rapidly fading semi-agrarian commune of hippies, bikers, pagans, and other counter-culture types nestled in the hills of rural West Virginia. The inhabitants are basically pilgrims in a strange and hostile land.

It's written in the style of a nostalgic memoir and is a story within a story involving some of the kids playing Dungeons & Dragons.

Hinata is the Dungeon Master and Sasuke is the Co-DM, Hinata is a hippie pagan chick originally from Vermont and Sasuke is a biker and hunter.

• Boruto is a Fighter
• Sarada is a Magic-User
• Sumire is a Cleric
• Shikadai is a Thief
• Inojin is a Ranger
• Himawari is a Druid and also a Half-Elf

Inspirations include That 70's Show, Stranger Things, and Stand By Me.

Having grown up in the "hills" of rural West Virginia, I can assure you that no one there would even dream of touching D&D even under threat of death. The only descriptors you used in that sentence that sounded accurate were "hunter" and maybe "biker" but only in the broad sense of "rides a motorcycle."

Also from West Virginia and so is my dad.

My dad actually played D&D growing up in West Virginia in the 1980's during the very height of the Satanic Panic nonsense and neither he nor his friends get into any real trouble (though they were aware of the controversies and got some flak for playing it). It really all depended on the town or part of the state you lived in. It was stronger in some places than in others.

Besides, it's just fiction anyway. So who cares?

I'm out of touch with Naruto fanfiction. What sorts of Naruto (insert changed aspect of his character, training, or personality) have we all been seeing a lot of lately?

Back when I was in touch there was stuff like "Naruto born into the Uchiha clan" and "Naruto but on Team 8."

When I search Naruto fics on Fanfiction, I see a lot of "Smart!Naruto, Powerful!Naruto, Harem" fics, which are also popular in the Pokémon and RWBY fandoms to lesser extents. There are also a lot of "Naruto leaves/gets kicked out of Konoha, returns [x] years later powerful and edgy" and "Naruto had a cool kekkai genkai/bloodline limit/whatever" fics. I've never clicked on any such AUs besides Team 8. They don't interest me.

I swear that Naruhina has gone down since it was canonized. It's not even due to Naruto's parenting skills. It just seems like married fluff doesn't do it for people (Sasusaku has had no such issue).

I used to be really into Naruto fics for years but I rarely read them nowadays. It's just so hard to find anything interesting. A lot of the better fics are several page in.

Naruto Naruto Naruto, can anyone recommend a fic where he isn't the MC or even in the picture? I would love to read about Itachi(that isn't a crack fic as Itachi is that a baby) or Kakashi or others. Naruto fics I like : Naruto Great Clan Days, Better Left Unsaid, Team 8, Return of The Heavenly Demon, The Unwoven Threads of Fate, Strange Gameplay for a Ninja, The Root of Darkness, Shinobi of The High Seas, The Sealed Kunai

I decided to give Princess of Konoha a try after seeing it on here. That 500k+ word count means I'll probably never read more than 20 chapters, but it's an interesting idea nevertheless, Hinata is a serious Ojou and Naruto wants to be her BFF.

Anybody ever consider a Film Fic with the characters from Naruto?

I had this idea for a crossover between Naruto and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Hamon, Spin, and Stands all exist in Naruto's setting, Naruto picks up on Ripple which becomes So Last Season when Jiraiya and Neji show up with The Spin, Neji has the Stand King Crimson and Sasuke's Susano'o acts as his Stand.

But I feel so dumb now because King Crimson absolutely would be an Uchiha stand. But I feel like it fits with Neji's whole "can't escape your destiny" thing with him standing arrogantly above people.

Though it actually counteracts that because King Crimson, at least in the english dub, has Diavolo outright claim he can defy the destiny that others are shackled to.

F-ck.

So now I have to rewrite 10-20 chapters to give Sasuke a King Crimson-esque ability and think of one for Neji, because I wanted the big reveal of "oh shit we got Stands" to be Neji's when he sneak-attacks Hinata during the preliminaries. Like, a genuinely cold-blooded move that tips Naruto off to Neji not being the boring canonical Neji.

Plus I already had a scene earlier where Sasuke unlocks the beginnings of his Stand, Susano'o, but... maybe I can rewrite it so that it's basically King Crimson. Meanwhile, just switch Neji's fight with Hinata back to a Gentle Fist fight.

Is there a good fic out there where Hinata is placed on Team 7 instead of Sakura? That'd be super easy to do and I feel like there's a bunch of interesting ways that can play out.

How many "Naruto:Asunder"-s are there? Doing a search in the search bar for "naruto asunder" tells me there's a lot of references to it, but without a page nor links for most of them, we have possible disambiguation issues.

I've found 3. Naruto: Asunder by NowLessWrathfulSE and Asunder by Ziltoid. Both are on fanfiction.net. There's also Naruto Asunder by Xhaoz_Aburame on wattpad.

Now Less Wrathful SE seems to be the same person as Xhaoz_Aburame, since the chapter titles are the same except the first, which is called Ripples.

But I can't find the source chapters for the quotes that we use, strangely.
