This picture doesn't really demonstrate anything the current picture doesn't already do.
I'd argue that it (and really almost any other picture) would better illustrate the point, if only because the current picture looks like a genki girl and an ice queen discussing a bet. The action doesn't really suggest perky so much as "I can flex for money." It doesn't really come off well in my opinion. I don't think highly of my pic either, but the current pic doesn't do a good job at all for anyone who hasn't watched the show.
I can understand the whole newbie confusion thing, but the fact is a lot of people know who those characters are, in the same vein enough (not all but enough) people will recognize Harry Potter or Darth Vader if they ever saw pictures of them.
I just haven't anyone can come up with a picture that can trump the picture we already have, that's all I'm saying.
Now wait, if we're going to go by "A lot of people know this so it's good", then this Excel Saga pic should be considered as well as it is a very, VERY popular series known by a number of people in numerous countries, and Excel and Il Palazzo fit this trope to a T.
We can't go by "it's obvious to people who have seen it" because this is nowhere near a Star Wars level series. It's My Little Pony level at best. If people who haven't seen the series are left confused, it's a bad image, and as the creator of the topic said, it's already all sorts of implicit in fulfilling the trope. While they aren't necessarily good images, most of the pictures in this thread are far better illustrations of the trope.
Which pictures? No one has come to a consensus on which picture to choose. If we can't choose one, we let it stay.
One of them looks like a jester, and the other looks rather royal and not particularly nice. That clearly demonstrates their relationship to me.
If you really want to argue about appearances, I'd say Excel looks a lot more like a hero than a minion. Simply put, it's a good pic, but it's not better, and it's still blurry.

The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.I don't like the Excel pic any more than the original.
Clock is set.
I like the image at 76. The Avatar fanart is weird with the money Azula is holding. That show doesn't use currency with dollar signs.

somethingExcel Saga pic works. Ilpalazzo obviously looks like a guy in some kind of position of authority and Excel's goofy expression gets the "perky" part across.
Honestly, I like the first Girl Genius suggestion the most (Preferably with just the first and last panel or first and second... Hell, maybe just the first).
He tells her to kill someone in an overt way, getting across the "minion" part immediately. Instead of speaking in calculated words, she speaks in zanny visuals that all crowd together. The body language of the two also conveys that while one is more collected, the other is excited.
The current page image is bad because it honestly just looks like one person is paying the other for her dancing performance. The second girl genius has some ambiguity in the wording (And only the last panel is related to the trope). The Joker image is pretty good, but I think it could work better for some other trope about (as said before) one-sided relationships. And the Excel Saga image shows no relationship between the two characters and no villainy; it's also blurry.
EDIT: Actually, looking at the Excel Saga picture, I really think the problem is her outfit. If she were wearing some stereotypical military outfit or something, I'd see that the other guy is giving her orders. However, her costume has large shoulder... Things (Not sure of the specific term), which are usually a symbol of authority.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Clock's up; locking for inactivity/lack of consensus. No action is to be taken based on this thread.
Yes, but only because the .png wouldn't process. I tried working with the original video a bit more and tried simply prnt screening it to bring down the file size...but really, now the .png looks the same as the .jpg
