The major differences?
The PS 2 version has a filter over the entire game. The Wii version only has it over a few scenes.
The Wii version has motion controls, but it is really fiddly. The PS 2 version is a bit better for lines, but that's about it.
Oh, and the Wii version doesn't have end credits.
Not Three Laws compliant.I'd suggest the Wii version for gameplay, but I'd ultimately have to say go for the PS 2 version because it's more complete and the gameplay is still quite good.
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/lb_i.php?lb_id=13239183440B34964700 Alfric's Fire Emblem Liveblog Encyclopedia!Wii version is better for the drawing portions in battles, since you can draw on the fly. But many people didn't like using the weapons with the wiimote. Personally, I was fine with the Shields and Beads, but I sucked with the Sword on the Wiimote.
I did fine with the Wii version, but it's mostly preference.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadThe gameplay with the Wii version can get a bit annoying, since you have to swing the Wiimote just right to attack.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFmGNqji4u0I'm told drawing with the Wii version can be annoying, since drawing a straight line is a lot harder. Plus there's the motion controls to attack thing...
I played on a PS 2 and rarely had problems with it. If you can get the PS 2 version, I'd highly recommend it.
Sakamoto demands an explanation for this shit.Uh...
I have Okami on the Wii...
I never had problem with the controls...
All of the weapons are really easy to use.
Just don't swing the Wii-mote like a maniac and you're good...
Also, yeah, drawing is way easier...
Except straight lines...
But for straight lines, you can hold one of the buttons and it forces the line to be straight. So I didn't have too many issues with that either
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadyeah, they mention it somewhere in the game. If you hold a button (I think on the nunchuk) and draw a line, it comes out perfectly straight.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadThanks, all of you. But is the filter really a point in PS 2's favor? From what I can see, it appears to make the game a whole lot more drab and dull.
It's a style thing. Some people really like that paper filter, to give it more of an art feel, while others prefer the more vibrant colors on the Wii version. That too is just a matter of preference.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadPS 2 has a filter and the ink-outlines bleed onto each other. I personally thought the PS 2 had the better art, but to each his own.
Gameplay wise, PS 2 wins because on the Wii there is an "attack rhythm" that makes combat stressful. You have to swing the controller at a certain pace — and the nunchuck "dodge" skill (which is totally optional in the game, btw) is non-functional on the Wii. It cannot tell which direction you are shaking the controller.
The end credit scene is also missing. It's just a botched version of the original game. The only saving grace is "different" graphics, but that's only if you like it.
Two Wong's don't make a white.I'll admit that you got me with the nunchuck dodging, I completly forgot how annoying that was.
...But I SWEAR, the wii version is still fun
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadWeird. Nunchuck dodging worked for me 9/10 times I actually remebered it existed.
I'd go with the PS 2 version. It looks better, has the ending credits and better controls.
That that the inaccurate controls on the Wii will ever actually get you in trouble. The game is pretty easy.
I'm recommending for the PS 2
What profit is it to a man, when he gains his money, but loses his internet? Anonymous 16:26 I believe...Thank you for your kind help. I'll tell you my choice in detail once I get back from an adventure.
I actually decided a couple of answers ago, but didn't mention it here. I'm sorry!
So I'm told that Okami is this great, beautiful game that has a lot of saving folks and fixing stuff. It sounds like it's right up my alley. But could you please help me out and tell me about the version differences?
The Wii port has more hardware power behind it than the original PS 2 version, but as Twilight Princess shows us, making use of it is another thing entirely. The Wiimote should fit the "draw on the screen" interface elements, but may or may not fit the rest of the game.
EDIT: And how on Earth did an Ō get into the link when I wrote it "Okami"?
