Well, Caesar's killers did have a large assortment of different motives, from idealists to resenters to bastards and a lot inbetween.
They definitely do sort of compress Caesar himself with his very complex personality.

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"I'd definitely say Caesar and Pompey having their showdown is probably the most flat out exciting bit of this specific period militarily. Octavian V Antony and Cleopatra is more of a cold war (which can be exciting as well, but it's just harder to execute).
I'm not even talking about battles. I'm talking Caesar and his motivations and him as a person. Very little of what made him a complex figure is in the game, because like said, the game wants his assassin's to be all and all good guys. The most they kept is his fascination with Alexander the Great.
And I'm not saying you can't make Caesar the bad guy, or a Tyrant, but you can't make him boring. And he's so boring and forgettable and flat.

Ya know while I respect the games adherence to the series history & lore they really should have done it in a better way than making the characters so simply black & white.
I mean when your job is murdering people your not exactly a clear-cut good guy.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."They definitely should have had Caesar do his famous clemency on you at one point in the game, no matter how else they portrayed him.
Assassin's Creed has always struggled to try and put its characters on the right side of history when there simply aren't clear lines; that was why you got them being the Ancien Regime in Unity for no clear other reason.

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"So, slightly off-topic, but is the film worth a rental in anyone's opinion? It was referenced in Origins and now I'm a bit curious.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Where are you where they still rent movies? :-P
It's... not awful?
It's not good either, suffers some of the same flaws as the games (Poorly developped historical characters, like we were just talking). The plot is forgettable.
It's definitely mediocre
Well, by rent I meant "pay for it once and watch it online".
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Did they say they were planning on turning Origins into a new trilogy ala similar with Ezio?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."A game set during the conquest of Gaul would be fun, and it would cover Ceasar's glory days quite nicely, too.
Optimism is a duty.I noticed there is a new "deal" for Helix points, but the packs contain a lot less points than they used to. The highest used to be something like 24.000 points, now it is only 10.000. The prices lowered, but so did the Helix amounts. Does anyone have the old numbers? I smell shenanigans of some sorts.
Optimism is a duty.Just a reminder that The Hidden Ones is set for release tomorrow.
It was already a rip off. Not surprised.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Heck, there's even a theory among historians that his popularity among the common people was the main reason for his assassination.

Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.Though this arguably is a return to form for the series - as history was rewritten by the Templars to favour their ancestors. So, of course Caesar would be "A man of the people, well loved" and his historical assassins re branded as vile, gutless, craven men and women...
Fridge Brilliance really.
And now that Haka chests have been upgraded to include mounts and such, Helix points become even more useless and overpriced. Just got that unicamel, so with some patience, doing laughably easy daily quests, you can collect a lot of the fun stuff without spending a dollar. I mean, really, ten minutes a day killing some random bandits/animals for paywalled legendary gear? How easy can it get?
Also, that update tacitly admits that the developers did break their promise about ALL gear being available through haka chests... At least they fixed it now.
Optimism is a duty.I do miss crowd-blending a little bit.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youYou know what I love best about the trailer? "Actual in game footage". No pre-rendered shit here, folks.
Optimism is a duty.Trailer looks awesome, glad I bought the Season Pass.
Anyone know what time Ubisoft usually launches their DLC?
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.AHHHHH I need to finish this bloody game. And then get that. Jebus. Right.
Finish writing novel; Finish the Division; Finish WOTC playthrough. Then finish this.
Man.
Now I feel sad at finishing the game early and missing out on those extra levels.
Optimism is a duty.So I played through the Hidden Ones, took about 6-7 hours (that's all missions and the map cleared, plus a little trophy grinding at the end). Its essentially more of Origins, so if you liked that I recommend it. The story was interesting, the map was a bit samey (Sinai doesn't stand out), and the final boss was pretty good.
Octavian and Antony were named dropped, which gives me hope that we'll see them in a sequel.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.I thought the Sinai mountains were a bit much, lots of cliffs and windy paths, but it was fun enough since it wasn't huge. The steep paths don't gel well with the horse mechanics, though. Enjoy watching your steed whip around hairpin turns and down steep roads at breakneck speed.
Anyone else notice how there's an empty strip of land between the Nile and the Red Sea?
Also, the level cap was suppsed to double eventually, but the Valley of the Dead DLC only goes to 55. Could this imply another DLC down the road?
Optimism is a duty. The DLC pretty much confirms the impression the base game gave that Amunet/Aya is really the brains behind the Brotherhood, what with her wearing the Mentor black robes and Bayek outright calling her (a) mentor at the end.
Honestly, unless they expand the skill tree (which, compared to other games, I found disappointing to be honest. Lots of filler and few things that actually get used/feel like progression), there's little point in raising the level cap too much further. Aside from sealing off certain areas via Beaf Gates.
Regarding Origins, I also found the loot from the quests to be a bit of a let down. I'm still using the Golden Wolf sword I picked up at about level 20, with the scaling upgrades that healing effect can't be beat. I switch to Alexandria's Light when I need to make an enemy flinch with fire.

It would be a nice way to cover up their blatant whitewash of Ceasar's killers (who were in no way men of the people the way the game portrayed them). And there's no way they won't show Cleo's assassination after Aya's last line in the game. Still, I think such a story exploration would happen in a sequel, as the major DL Cs are focused on the Sinai and a supernatural Valley of the Kings.
I think it would be a nice twist for Augustus to come in and actually overcome both the Order and the Brotherhood.
