The Vault messages say that Desmond only delayed the cataclysmic nexus that has been coming for the past 75,000 years and that it's still impending. Vague as that is, it definitely implies a new modern-era crisis.

Ya know, it's a shame we're probably never getting a new Watch_Dogs game, coz since they take place in the same Universe as Assassin's Creed (Sort of) they would've made a good vector to explore the modern day aspect of the conflict. After all, Deadsec and the Assassins, as well as Blume and Abstergo, have clear parallels in their agendas.

It would be pretty cool to explicitly tie the franchises together and have Dedsec ally with the Assassins to take on Abstergo, but yeah... probably not happening.

It was pretty hilarious how Bayek has next to no reaction to those secret Precursor Vaults, beyond a mumbled "What in the gods' names in this?", and "This is not Egyptian!" Not to mention his complete lack of reaction to the messages themselves. At least Ezio reacted when HE saw his message from the past to the future.

There's line in one of the messages that "He cannot hear this", or something to that effect. Meaning that Bayek is somehow a vessel for them without remembering or understanding what he saw. Kind of weird but not that much odder than anything else the First Civilization technology does.

I assumed the messages were actually in English, as they contain words Egyptian would not have.

Personally, an Assassin's Creed modern era game with Metal Gear Solid V style gameplay would get my money.

Or even Hitman. With better melee options.

Oh yeah, have like, the Shadow Client from Hitman 2016 be a member of the Assassin Order, and Providence be the modern day Templars. Abstergo might just be a front for Providence. Or Providence might be another secret society and the Templars are only one of their many branches.

Eh, Juno sort of reminds me of the 5th Season of Supernatural. When they finished the 5th season and defeated Satan they had two choices. They could continue on with epic world ending threats every year despite defeating the biggest evil ever or they could scale back and do personal stories. They chose the former and the series has never quite recovered.

I feel the same way with Juno.

If you defeated Juno next game in the Animus then had the Assassins being actively hunted by Otso Berg the next game and on the verge of extinction—would that be so bad? It's like Batman really. Ra's Al Ghul is the greater threat but does that invalidate the Joker?

Or maybe have the Assassins become so bloated with power that they become the very thing they seek to destroy. Have them become the holders of the secret political machinations that secretly control the world, and the new threat. Have the next wave of people combat them. Re-discover the creed from scratch.

It's kind of like the Men of Letters UK chapter, so ruthlessly efficient and non-discriminant in their execution of monsters they murder innocents as well as predators. Perhaps if the American Hunters unified and reformed the American Men of Letters, the same thing would have happened?

I don't know if we've discussed this already, but I did spasm involuntarily when we see in-universe, finally, where the Assassin's logo comes from.

It's so incredibly esoteric, though: I wonder how many members of the Order/Brotherhood have walked under it, emblazoned as it is on their flags and such, and had no fucking clue what any of it meant.

Apparently, though, the Asscreed logo was deciphered by some Eagle-eyed fans long before this revelation, however.

Been visiting the Oracle of Cyrene. Some of her sayings are interesting foreshadowing. She has, like, a ton of lines if you keep talking to her.

  • "Peace will come. Seek out the Healer, The Judge and The Architect, they will form a new triumvirate"
    • Reference to the quest where you unite the three movers in Cyrene. You do that at her temple, so easy.
  • "You walk in the shadows of we who came before"
    • Obvious
  • "When the eagle spots the true ram, the children of Ra shall die"
    • ??
  • "The Sanguine is the Key that opens the door"
    • ??
  • "A death in the house of King will set ablaze the children of Amun."
    • Guessing how Caesar's death leads to Cleopatra's death and the end of Pharaohs?
  • "He who was born of the Thunderbolt holds the relic of the Older ones"
    • Reference to the Staff in Alexander The Great's tomb. Arcording to myth Alexander was born from a thunderbolt.
  • "The three headed hydra shall devour the Asp"
    • ??
  • "Weither by sea or between the sheets, the black land is conquered."
    • Assuming it refers to the Roman conquest of Egypt
  • "An Empire will arise from his Ashes"
    • The rise of the Roman Empire via Augustus from Caesar's death
  • "The Hog wallows in the mud, stuff an apple in his mouth, Eagle".
    • ??
  • "The Eaglet Awaits you in the field of your forebears"
    • Khemu awaiting Bayek in the field of reeds
  • "Heed the Ides of March"
    • Obvious

Oh? Have a source?

Don't have one, but I do remember before release people noting that Bayek's Eagle Skull medallion sported the assassin logo in form of the age's jaw.

The logo does make sense for Bayek and Aya. It represents the act of them shedding their pasts to embrace the brotherhood and its nascent creed. That it would be adopted as a greater logo by others making a similar sacrifice doesn't exactly make no sense. Though the part that makes no sense to me is how Bayek and Aya immediately add the Eye of Ra to the middle of the logo (like the Medjai badge had), but later the brotherhood discards the meaningful eye of Ra and sticks with the otherwise obscure logo we come to know.

Well, later Assassins don't necessarily worship Ra. And Aya doens't believe in the gods anyway and seems to be the more influential of the two assassins.

I tried fighting the war elephants again last night and I managed to beat two of them so far. I've found a trick: equip a weapon with Cursed and a direct damage Overpower (like a spear), and save the last Overpower to cut through the beast's final enrage phase when it just stomps all over me. It took quite a few tries but it seems like the best strategy.

I played around a bit with taming... well, I tamed exactly one thing, a lion, to get the achievement, then I immediately had it fight a crocodile for that achievement. I wondered if I could lose it by riding all over the place, but man, once tamed, those things stick to you like glue. It wouldn't follow me into the war elephant battle, though. /sadface

I also finished the epilogue quests, and I have to say that the "Pax Romana" is a bit poignant given that we know, historically, how long that lasts.

They regress if they lose sight of you. You actually can't let them despawn. They're also not that useful, since you can only tame one, and guards have an easier time with animals that you do, usually.

Here's some advice though, don't bother with the stupid sleepdarts. Get the Headache Cure. God. I love everything about that weapon. It puts enemies to sleep on contact (like, once every 4 hits) and since it's a heavy blunt, if you time attacks right, Bayek will parry the enemy's attack and unleash an attack that's usually a 1-hit kill. I once got three guards in one sweep this way, and I weep knowing I will never do anything that cool looking again.

Okay, all locations completed (including all the war elephants) and all papyrus puzzles solved. I only ended up needing guides for a few of them. Nothing much else to do until the DLC comes out.

Oh, Sobek is the community challenge. He's easier than Anubis, I think. Same basic fight structure except that, instead of those charging dogs, you get AoE circles on the ground to dodge, and instead of a wall that encloses you while you're fighting the melee enemies, he throws an arrow storm at you, which can be blocked.

You've surpassed me, then. I'm still four scrolls and three elephants short. Technically four with the double one.

I haven't looked up any answers on the papyrus scrolls though

I didn't meet Tahiri or do her missions until after the main story campaign. So this woman I never helped and haven't met for at least nine years is somehow just thrilled to be the first to chop her finger off to join an order founded by a man she hadn't seen in years.

Some of those papyrus riddles are rather hard to solve. There is one where you need to find an abandoned village in a rather rugged mountain area, but even with the location on the map, I found it hard to locate. Turns out it is a rather loose connection of ruins...

And don't get me started on that stupid tree without a view on its brothers...
