I find myself occasionally having to remind myself that this place doesn't represent the views of the community at large in real life. That can be either disappointing or a relief, depending on what those views are - but somehow, convincing myself of the positive things is never as easy as the negative ones.

^ When you say "this place", do you mean OTC or the forums?

I don't think I understand what you mean, sorry.

Maybe that what people say online doesn't really reflect their actions in real life?

"War doesn't prove who's right, only who's left." "Every saint has a past, every sinner has a future."

This whole site, really.

For example - pretty much everybody here, with a few exceptions, is completely OK with gay marriage and associated stuff. But I have to be aware that, in my wider community not everybody is going to be.

Same thing with all these gender topics. Pretty much everybody here accepts that men can be raped, etc. But a lot of people in the real world just don't think about things like that. So sometimes I'll come out with an opinion and be surprised that everyone around me thinks it's wierd.
