[up][up] I agree.

Screw the NHS! Screw the welfare system! Screw the schools! They don't matter! Only those dumb townies need them.

It's a shame that 60% (or more) of Britons live in an urban area, and yet, the party in power didn't even get more than 50% of the votes. The only urban area to vote Tory is Sutton Coldfield, but that's a suburb of Birmingham, and is full of upper-middle-income/class people.

That we use more cocaine than any other country in the world. (When it gets to that level, it's a cultural thing).

And let us pray that come it may (As come it will for a' that)

[up][up]Oh yeah. Of course. Whenever I step into the M25 island it's a whole other nation in effect.

Do you know what the average budget cut for the 32 London Metropolitan Boroughs are from Whithall? Less than 5%.

Birmingham City Council has had cuts of 8% from Whitehall, and other city/metro boroughs have had average cuts of 12%.

London is the only urban conurbation in Britain, I guess.

[up] Oh okay. Well, if America were to split, as a Bible-Belt nation and then the rest, maybe so it would be a better political landscape.

Err... that wouldn't help. And it would never happen, America has been through enough.

I'm going to replace "our" with "my" (or, in the case of the thread title considering how i'm not the thread starter, "your")

  • Racists. I think there was some recent newspaper calling white people aliens. And when I say that I mean in the extraterrestrial sense.
  • There's still a lot of people who think women should stay in the kitchen.
  • It is mandatory to join the army at age 18 when one is male (some exceptions exist, some of which have to go to the army later anyway, only reason why they avoided it the first time was because they already had a job or something) because we're paranoid our power won't be enough to kill North Korea at some point.
  • My country's people tend to hate Japan, rather than Japan's government, which is the main thing that shit on them anyway.
  • Males are still considered more important, or at least to parents.
  • Grades and that sort of shit is considered far too important.
  • A lot of parents are more concerned with what their children will do for them rather than their actual children's lives.
  • Too much importance placed on politeness. It doesn't even have to be like seeming nice. You just have to keep certain words and crud while talking and avoid specific gestures even if you're doing something like yelling to disable someone's ears.
  • There's not enough meat in the cuisine.
  • There isn't enough awesome stuff recorded originating from us. Though part of this has to do with other countries destroying historical stuff or whatever.
  • Weird people are to be corrected into society-friendly humans.
  • Arrogance is common.

So, similar to a lot of others.

The very concept of "American Tradition" needs to die in a fire.

There is no. such. thing. Unless you are using a very loose definition of the term "tradition".

also, screw all this manliness bullshit. I have better things to do with my time than brag about wrestling alligators.

[up] I agree. Manly? What the hell is manly? Spreading my seed around several women? What if I want to like arranging flowers, or cooking or doing the so-called 'woman' things?

There was a documentary on last night which asked if men were 'genetically unfaithful'. And women aren't?

Monetary lobbying needs to die in a fire.

Banned entirely for telling FE that he was being rude and not contributing to the discussion. I shall watch down from the goon heavens.

I'm not entirely sure that that counts as part of "culture" per se, but I agree with you.

Also people need to stop using "toughen up" and variants as a catch all answer to everything, some problems are complicated. Mindblowing, I know.

[up][up] Yeah. I hate the way big business buy off politicians, or pay for their campaigns. And then the fact that the media - well, actually the newspapers here - are subject to NO equality laws at all.Rupert Murdoch has the entire voting public in his hands, and he gets the electoral candidates to BEG his papers to print their faces. He also canceled Firefly.

In West Indian culture, I wish there were less sexism. Boys and men in that culture get waited on hand and foot and usually aren't expected to know how to cook, but girls/women have to do a lot of the cooking and cleaning.

People who take a complex social issue and distill it into "it's all (x)'s fault". Fuck em where they live.
