I thought about using You Know That Show, but I have nooo idea how that place works. And everyone's asking about stuff other than video games. With that out of the way here's the game I've been trying to remember a long time...I finally remembered a lot of details about the game.

General Details

  • on the SNES. I played it with a copier or something, I think.
  • anime-ish character designs. I don't recognize ANYONE.
  • it appears to be a turn based-ish fighting game. You don't see the character's legs, just his/her chest or above. You use moves, and you can dodge, it was based on reflex, I don't remember the technical details.
  • everyone spoke in japanese...with a few engrish

Character Specific Details

  • one character was a little boy who fought with yoyos. I think they might be electrified...reminds me of Killua.
  • another character was a guy who summoned hands and shot them at opponents. And he appears to have an attack that summons some thing that swallows the opponent, the rest of the match takes place in another battlefield.
  • another one is some doctor or scientist. All I can remember is that one of his moves has him injecting something into his neck. He doesn't punch, but he pokes with his fingers unlike everyone else.
  • another one is a guy who does nothing but flick/throw things. Even his strongest attack is just summoning a rock so he could flick something at it to cause it to shatter all over the place.
  • there was a guy/girl with pink hair who could whip people with a rose...
  • another gender ambiguous character who seems to summon tiny monsters...and he/she had a mask that could fall off.
  • theres a guy who looks like some character that would belong in Hunter X Hunter...and I think he had a third eye.
  • lastly, a guy who could take out his right hand and reveals a cannon...and he was skinny.

So...anyone know what the game is called? Is it supposed to be based on any anime or something? All I know is that I played it like...10 or more years ago.

edit: ...wow, that's way more information than I expected to be able to remember...

Yuyu Hakusho it sounds like. Maybe it's a game based off it? I know the dark tournament arc had a kid with electric yoyos and the rose whip guy is definitely Kurama. Third eye guy is Hiei, one of the baddest mofos in anime history!

But I'm surprised if you never heard of Yuyu Hakusho. And yes it was made by the same guy who did HXH.

New information

  • there was also some guy with a third eye on his forhead...and I kept calling him Goku.

The Hunter X Hunter character with the third eye sounds like Hiei as well tongue

...Yu Yu Hakusho? I've...heard of it mentioned once or twice...don't know anything else about it. Is it something new? Something old?

Do the characters I describe resemble anything in that show?

If the anime is something new, it's not it, because the game I played was a loooong time ago.

Definitely Yu Yu Hakusho. And it's pretty old. Here is a list of its games. As you can see, there were several for the SNES, though none were officially brought to the USA, which explains the mostly Japanese.

Dude it used to be one of Toonami's biggest shows back when it aired. Yeah it's old, from the early-mid 90s but quite popular and was ran on air dubbbed for a long time(here in the U.S at least) once they finally got it(early 2000s). It's a good 90s shonen anime and if you like Bleach or DBZ you'd probably like it too.

I still watch it from time to time.

Guess I'll take a look to see if anything is familiar....that is a lot of SNES games to look through to find the one I used to play though. sad

And there are a LOT of anime I never watched before...for one reason or another(mostly time).

PS-

  • a particularly weak character fought by shooting using his own hand in a gun shape...by particularly weak, I mean I gave up on him because I couldn't do any moves.

PPS- -looks at the trope page- Hey look! That 3 eyed Goku is in the image in Yu Yu Hakusho's page!...okay, so I might have played a game based on Yu Yu Hakusho back then on the SNES...

And the character you just described is the main character, Yusuke [lol]

I'd really recommend the dub, the sarcasm is awesome!

Found It

...That was way easier than I thought. Just type Yu Yu Hakusho Game on You Tube and the first result was what I was looking for....the game's title is just Yu Yu Hakusho Game...no wonder I couldn't find it.

[[youtube:1uf2Q_8ZKvI&feature=related]]

Thanks for helping, I didn't expect to find it so fast...maybe the anime'll entertain me until Hunter X Hunter would GET OFF IT'S BLOODY HIATUS!

edit: Damn Youtube...but like I said, it's impossible to define it's gameplay.

Hahaha, no problem. Be sure to check out the show, though. It's one of my all-time faves, for sure.

One more question...when does the black haired guy/girl with the mask on the right side of the screen appear in the show? I remember the game mostly because of him/her's fighting style...

Any interest I'll have will mostly be centered around him/her...just like how I only played the game for him/her.

That's Karasu. He shows up in the Dark Tournament arc as part of Team Toguro.

...No idea.

All I know is that the Hunter X Hunter guy also did Level E (highly recommended)...not sure about yuyu hakusho...though the 3 eyed goku really resembles a random Hunter X Hunter character.

[up][up]That is correct, Spooky Mask. Both series, as well as Level E, are done by Yoshihiro Togashi.
