Oh noez it's an expy

So, I was creating a character who is half vampire-bat, and half way through designing her personality and appearance, I realized I was more or less making a vampire version of Kuroneko on accident. However, I like the character, so I don't want to throw out the design.

The character in question is a short, sarcastic fifteen year old with a black Hime Cut who thinks she's more mature than she really is and likes the occult. That sounds pretty much exactly like Kuroneko. What should I do?

Never heard of Kuroneko. I say you keep her, unless the plot is very similar too. Expies aren't necessarrily bad.

The plots don't have anything to do with each other; Ore Imo was a Slice of Life series, and the series that my character is from is some kind of Vampire x Werewolf Girls' Love story, though I don't have any details on the plot yet.

Sounds like you don't have a problem. Just think how many different stories have a brooding heroic vampire who wants To Become Human, and yet are still unique in other ways.

Yeah, keep her. It'd be one thing if the stories were similar, but there's enough difference that most people (even fans of the show) aren't going to realize it.

Also bear in mind that, despite this wiki's user base, most Westerners haven't seen any anime at all and even fewer have read manga, so if your work isn't manga, the odds that any of the readers will be familiar with a manga/anime with limited availability in the US are just about 0.

And, the way she works is a little hard to explain. There's another character in this series who is like a werewolf, except that she transforms each night, and how wolf-like she is depends on how full the moon is (so, when the moon isn't out much, she just has the ears, tail and fangs). The character this thread is about is just like that, except with vampire bats instead of wolves.

That wolf idea is cool. Good way to split the difference between the wolf-man/man-wolf/wolf versions. Sounds fun to draw, too.
