You might want to try posting on the Wii U subreddit.

Or just search for your issue on google with "reddit" on the end of the search.

I've had good luck with finding solutions to technology problems that way in the past.

Maybe the battery is messed up? My gamepad needs to be plugged in because the battery dies in under 10 minutes. I don't think the batteries on gamepads last that long.

Posting on a dedicated forum like Gamefaqs or Reddit would probably give the best response.

The Gamepad's battery is infamously bad. That could be the issue.

Why now though? I've had it for years.

And I've only started playing it again recently. The rest of the time it's just sitting doing nothing. If it was gonna conk out on me, you'd think it'd be when I was using it more regularly.

Rechargeable devices need to be recharged regularly to maintain battery life, even if you haven't used them. Batteries are constantly losing their power, even if they're not connected to a device that's actively draining them, and it's bad for them to be empty for a prolonged time.

My original PS3 died a few years ago and by the time I got a replacement, my controllers were also dead because I hadn't used them for years and I didn't recharge them at all in that time. The manual warns about this, but I didn't listen.

Well, I did keep it constantly charged. When I was using it, I didn't leave it unplugged. I just didn't use it.

(x4) That sucks. My DS (which isn't even a Lite) took at least ten years to get to the point where it needs to be plugged in to work. My U gamepad took under four. Admittedly, I use my U several hours a day, but that's still weak for a console. I wish it came with a cord so I could just plug it into my console; wired controllers are so convenient.

I've noticed that the U's internet browser is becoming dated. I can't browse sites like Tumblr anymore; it won't load. It's a shame but, oh well.

I'm regretting not buying more U games when you could actually find U games in the wild. The Wii U is one of my favorite systems, but I just know it'll be super expensive in under 10 years. Maybe Saturn-level expensive.

In Europe, Wii U eShop will no longer accept credit cards as of September 2019.

From what I understand, an EU Directive requiring Two Factor Authentication for all digital payments comes into effect on September 14th and Nintendo likely doesn't want to update a dead storefront.
