Anybody else trying out Down in Front? They talk about the structure of a movie, sort of like an after-market commentary.

They think about story a lot like tropers do. Also, they do flicks I wouldn't mind watching.cool

Hey man. Thanks, we try. :) Our sort-of motto is "if the movie works, we need to figure out why... if the movie doesn't work, we need to figure out why... and if the movie was directed by George Lucas after 1998, all bets are off."

They're not really film reviews, they're more like film dissections.

Some of my favorite episodes (we've done like 115 by now) for a new listener to start with are:

The Abyss http://www.downinfront.net/index.php?id=11

Our panelist Trey was the lead puppeteer for the aliens in this movie, and has a lot of cool stories from the set and working (sometimes solely) with Jim Cameron. A lot of fun, and some really great stories.

Surrogates http://www.downinfront.net/index.php?id=72

We joked for months about how every sci-fi movie or book throughout history was apparently retroactively ripping off "Surrogates" - otherwise how would all of those ideas end up in one movie like that? We have a lot of fun ribbing on this movie, as well as some great discussion about exploring the idea of your story. (Something Surrogates doesn't even attempt, to our disappointment.)

Twilight http://www.downinfront.net/index.php?id=97

It's funny, it's actually introspective, good conversation, and a whole lot of hating ourselves for even going here.

The Fountain http://www.downinfront.net/index.php?id=65

Well, we...pretty much figured it out, which is quite a task. More fun insider info about Aronofsky and stuff.
