Then I suggest you avoid that, and be genuine with people instead of relying on an act of pedantry to express your outrage.

If you feel the medical obligations should be different, then express that, it'll at least be polite.

Not to mention, Joey, the problem with your belief of how rights work is that the conscience clause sort of completely subverts it all by allowing doctors even in public practice to avoid giving abortions, which means in liow income, high conservative areas, abortions, no matter how legal, are almost impossible.

[up][up]I have expressed no more snark then anyone else on this thread. I'd would love for this conversation to be more civil but I can't be expected to do on my own.

You could try to offer something civil yourself, perhaps?

Do you believe the Ethical obligations should provide for serving the desires of the patient? To what extent? What should be done to prevent abuses on both sides of the question? Are the needs of the community sufficient that provision of services is a valid governmental duty?

frankly I feel a bit offended by some of the previous comments, but I'm sure that feelings are mutual of on all sides in those regards. I'll swallow my grievances.

I don't know a country where the Hippocratic Oath is still being sworn in its original form.

I don't know of any that do, it's probably worth taking it to other thread. We have gone way off topic anyway.
