I think women are, on the whole, better looking than men, and that men, on the whole, are more attractive than women. Fair tradeoff. Works for me.
And better than thy stroke; why swellest thou then?So basically it's a matter of perception, Is what this question boils down too.
Good to know.
@Clocky: Pretty much, yeah. I've known guys that are absolutely gorgeous, I've known women who are absolutely gorgeous. I've also known a lot of ugly people.
"I don't know how I do it. I'm like the Mr. Bean of sex." -DrunkscriblerianNow we need to argue about wether perception is purely societal or a natural ingrained thing.
Check your TVT THREAD script.
Charlie Tunoku is a lover and a fighter. Is that before or after the pointless discussion on the use of the term "Societal"?
"I don't know how I do it. I'm like the Mr. Bean of sex." -DrunkscriblerianBeauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I think women are more beautiful. But that's just my opinion.
I'd say people who have a sexual preference for a certain gender will find that gender more attractive. Straight men and gay women find women more beautiful, gay men and straight women find men more beautiful.
Now, society in general claiming women are more attractive is probably because men get their perspectives heard more readily, and most men are straight.

If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done."I'd say people who have a sexual preference for a certain gender will find that gender more attractive. Straight men and gay women find women more beautiful, gay men and straight women find men more beautiful."
Beautiful and attractive are different things. As I've said already, I find women more beautiful and men more attractive.
And better than thy stroke; why swellest thou then? Before, Drunk, than come the semantics.

But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.I mean that I find women aesthetically more pleasing, but that I am attracted to men almost exclusively. And, while physical beauty plays a significant role in finding men attractive, personality is itself a huge factor when I get to know the people involved. I don't think that there is such a thing as inherently male or female personality, but men are, perhaps because of upbringing, more likely to possess the traits that I like. I don't know how much this factors in at all, though, since it's the actual physicality of men which I'm attracted to over that of women.

And better than thy stroke; why swellest thou then?Ah, OK, now I understand. Thanks.
But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.Ah, good. I was afraid that explanation was even more confusing than the initial statement.
And better than thy stroke; why swellest thou then?I'm not attracted to anyone, but I find women more aesthetically pleasing. However, I figured that's just because I'm female.
If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.I figure it is because the women wears eye liner, and that makeup.
Go and look at a Charley Chaplin movie, at some point you will start drolling over the fact he got proper outlined eye lashes. I wish there was more men wearing at the least only that.
I wonder if its sexist of me to think, yes, women are more sensual and beautiful I believe.
And when people say a man can be "beautiful", its usually a man with some feminine features, not some huge roid monkey I imagine.
But maybe I'm just bias, whatever, I dont think its that offensive to think about.
A "beautiful" man, in my opinion, would be a man who looks like a Roman statue.
However, being straight, I never use it in non-ironic situations.
Charlie Tunoku is a lover and a fighter. That's what I usually mean by male beauty too. Damn, those statues. Those did a lot to influence my perception of female beauty too. One day, when I'm fabulously rich...
Why would you never use it non-ironically, though? This really really confuses me. Maybe it's because I'm not a guy, and maybe it's because I'm very hyposexual so when I say a person's gorgeous I know and everyone who knows me knows it has nothing to do with wanting to fuck them, but I don't see anything weird about openly appreciating a person's looks.

i. hear. a. sound.I'm pretty sure there's some middle ground between the two.
But in any case, I do think it has a lot about how media and such colours our perception of each gender. Like what Carciofus said, we keep getting told, whether directly or indirectly, that women are more beautiful. That tends to colour our view and make us think that, which has people keep saying it, and so on.
ᐅᖃᐅᓯᖅ ᐊᑕᐅᓯᖅ ᓈᒻᒪᔪᐃᑦᑐᖅI think that you are thinking of the Greeks, they were the ones who were all about symmetry and perfect proportions. The Romans were all about realism (though I will admit that in the later period they started imitating the Greeks, with generally poorer results). </nitpick>

But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.I find a lot of guys "pretty", but my version of 'beauty' is Jared Leto◊: skinny, big eyes and frequent eyeliner, girly lips but still has masculine features.
I cut up one dozen new men and you will die somewhat, again and again.^^I stand corrected.
Although what I meant really were Rennaiesance examples.
Charlie Tunoku is a lover and a fighter. This seems like a question nobody can solve.
Except for 4/1/2011. That day lingers in my memory like...metaphor here...I should go.I think its simply "Society and history has made it where beauty is usually used to describe things of a more feminine nature."
Don't underestimate arms.
