Got a favorite song or two?

I like the Sea Ponies' leitmotif and "Pony Magic" from the End of Flutter Valley ^^ And the majority of songs from the Movie.

Probably the ones that stand out to me most are "Bright Lights," "Look At Me" (which I used to have a vain character of mine sing when I was younger), "There's Nothing Quite Like Shadows" and the one at the end of "Sweet Stuff and the Treasure Hunt" about how it's okay to be different.

"Dancing On Air" and "Remember Those Times". "Remember Those Times" is pretty much the song that will play when Equestria is destroyed.

Oh, and "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet". Has quite a impressive guitair at the end.

I liked "Look At Me" too ^^ MLP has a history of good songs.

I wonder what a G2 show would've been like.

I think it would involve the ponies of Friendship Gardens constantly having to tell newcomers, "We're not giraffes!"

Looks like the various series have their own pages now!

I was wondering, are there any fanfics out there that are set in the G3 universe? I know there was one story where the Friendship is Magic characters went to that world through a portal, but I mean fanfics about the G3 characters alone. Or would it be up to me to write such a thing?

Edit: I found at least one that looks interesting that I linked below that is part of The Pony POV Series, but this is definitely a series that there isn't much fanfic about it.

I like those ponies and think that with good writing they could become actual characters (like in Fi M) rather than just spouting catchphrases all the time.

Edit: I thought of something about the story "Pony Puppy." Dinah is probably the size a medium size dog in real life would be next to the My Little Pony dolls of the time period!

More like she's the size of the doll version of her that came with some of the pony dolls.

I stumbled onto a couple of silly fanfic readings on Youtube from a series called "My Little Psycho" that was based in Generation 3. But they were really stupid and gory, so you probably wouldn't care for them. It was interesting how they rewrote the theme song as it was heard in "Rescue at Midnight Castle", though.

Since you mentioned it, I'll going to look at it anyway, I can handle pretty gory stuff most of the time (such as the infamous Cupcakes), especially if it has humor in it. I don't mind darker fanfics unless the authors try to seriously pass it off as being the "correct" interpretation of canon, especially if it has humor along with the gory stuff/darkness.

Edit: I looked at some of them, and they didn't bother me. A few parts were funny, mainly the irony of Pinkie Pie being made into baked goods by Sweetie Belle, but I'd have to say, I definitely like that other G3 story (the one where they meet their G4 counterparts) a lot better.

No, I don't think so. Celestia and some of the other ponies meet G3 Spike, but not G4 Spike.

So who here grew up with the Disney reairings of the 80s and 90s cartoons.

I never have seen any version of My Little Pony on TV, I always watched it on videos I rented/owned and more recently on DVD, Youtube or the Friendship is Magic episodes I bought off of iTunes. I remember that I may have seen a small clip of it once on TV when I was little, but I don't really remember what channel it was on or anything aside from that.

I thought of something interesting when I was reading descriptions of the G3 ponies. Toola Roola's description on a Pony wiki describes her cutie mark as having triskels in it: http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Toola-Roola

Basically, she has an ancient Irish symbol as her cutie mark, which is even more amusing considering how similar her name is to "Toora-loora loora." (which is what I keep wanting to pronounce her name as) By the way, this is referring to her pre-Core 7 cutie mark, because as part of the Core 7 I think she has a paintbrush instead.

Well, Toola-Roola II's paintbrush mark does have a few spirals coming out of it... But otherwise, she looks so different from the first Toola-Roola that I think they just designed a new pony and slapped on an old name.

It seems generation 4 fans have issues with Earth ponies. They either bash them, criticize their existence or just make angry post about an Earth ponies ability. I never experienced this with previous generations.

I think it's because the producer of Friendship Is Magic once made the claim that Earth Ponies are not the have-nots of Equestria, but the show has never gone out of its way to clarify what advantage Earth Ponies have, and so every viewer comes up with their own idea of what "Earth Pony powers" might be without solid proof, which just leads to lots of arguments later.

In Generation 3 it was less of a problem because Unicorn Ponies didn't have a whole lot of practical magic (and Pegasus Ponies didn't have weather control abilities at the time either), and everybody but the Earth Ponies got pretty marginalized in generations 2 and 3 anyway, what with G3 putting the different kinds of ponies in separate lands so they could be introduced one at a time.

I don't know if anyone complained about Earth Ponies getting a raw deal in Generation 1 at all. Maybe they didn't because it was just a silly 80's cartoon, and even the mighty unicorns with their various magic powers and alleged "good luck" had to take orders from the almighty random human girl, so viewers probably complained about that instead. I think I also pointed out once that they bothered to incorporate Twinkle Eyed Ponies into the animation, but they totally passed up the opportunity to explain what Twinkle Eyes were or give Twinkle Eyes any special traits over normal eyes, besides a mention in The Movie that Smooze could remove a pony's "twinkle".
