I use ZSNES with Fraps. That way you can record AVI with sound while playing without slowdown. And I have a 6 year old machine

I tried ZSNES but couldn't get Fraps to work with it and recording movies with it is a lot of work. I'll stick with SNES 9 X for now.

That's weird, on my ancient computer, even in real-time it lets me do that and I can play normally while Fraps is recording...

Does anyone know a good SNES emulator that can record AVI with sound during recording? I'm using a version of SNES 9 X but it doesn't have an option to turn sound on during recording and recording a movie then an AVI makes Link walk into walls and die a lot.
