Alternatively, you could see it as Recettear... with marriage and 3-D graphics!

So, been playing this game for a bit, and it does a pretty good job of scaling up the difficulty and complexity as you progress through the game, so that there is always something more to do. It even has co-op play!

Also, apparently medieval rulers & merchants were not a whole lot different from today's Mafia. One of the things you have to deal with at higher ranks is nobles repeatedly asking you for shakedown money, and building up defenses against what they do when they're angry.

Patrician II was my game... even if I did move on to Port Royal and Tortuga eventually. Is the series still made by Cinematic Marquee or whatever the company's name is?

Developer is listed as Gaming Minds Studios, while the publisher is listed as Kalypso Media Digital (the publishers of Sacred and what not)
