So, I managed to finish exploring the everfall for Barnaby. Overall, I died quite due to the corpses but I did well enough. This game is tough but kind of fun.
Did the Ogre give you any trouble?
No, when I was escaping, I ran past it.
First time I've heard of someone just ignoring the ogre. In fact, most of the time I see people encounter it the first time, the ogre will actually jump off the stairs and kill itself (though sometimes with the player on it).
As for your combat troubles, what's your character type? I specialized in the fighter myself, so if you're playing that, I suggest to practice parrying with the shield if you can. The combat can take getting a little used to, but I like it better than something like Dark Souls. My suggestion is to equip skills that let you move around quickly, if that's an option.
Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...tbh I feel the clinging mechanic is not as fluid as it could be, but I think the games has many other interesting aspect to make up for it.
As for getting one shot, be mindful that the game uses beef gates to block your progression, unless you are really used to the fighting, it might be better to take a hint and scurry in the opposite direction.
For instance, if you push your luck in the dark of night and hear "Does doubt haunt you?!", turn tail and GTFO.
Climbing can definitely be improved, though it's not too bad once you get the hang of it. If you're going to be climbing a lot, Striders climb the fastest out of the entire group.
Have you been changing classes? Changing classes is necessary to learning new augments. Augments aren't class-locked, so you can use an augment you learned as a Strider even if you're a Fighter.
So, I managed to finish a quest investigating a cult for Ser Maximillian. That was pretty fun and it was cool that Mason was there to help. Oh, and I chose to kill the one remaining member of the cult.
In case you want to know what happens if you don't kill the guy: Mason kills him and becomes disappointed in you and apparently won't be involved with you anymore.

Next Gen porting. Can I say how happy I am for this?
It's only in Japan, though...for now.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.While I was hoping for the announcement of a sequel game, it's always nice to see Dragon's Dogma getting more love.
Only in Japan Xbone game?....wat.
Well, I think it is. I heard that it was coming to Japan earlier today but idk.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Good for people who haven't played it yet, but I won't be getting it again for this generation. Bring me Dragon's Dogma Online. Or better yet, getting off-topic really but still Capcom, Monster Hunter :P
I never finished DD, so I'll probably get it XD
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.If I ever did play again, I'd do everything I could to have Mercedes be my Beloved at the end :P On my second playthrough I tried really hard to get her, and ended up with... Valmiro. Some damned fisherboy from the first town.
The Affinity system is the one big gripe I have with the game, though it hasn't caused me too much trouble. I'm usually very careful when I give the Arisen's Bond and I always make sure the one person I want to be my Beloved is the last person I talk to before undertaking the penultimate quest before the fight with the Dragon.
I for one am up for any new Dragon's Dogma content, just not the same thing on new platform. Hell, I'm this close to caving in and getting Monster Hunter for my 2DS...
Actually talking about Dragon's Dogma makes me want to reinstall it again.
Yeah, the difficulty for me there was that Mercedes leaves the game for good about three-quarters of the way through, and it's probably impossible to never speak to anyone else again for the rest of the game :P
Thankfully the beloved mechanic is entirely inconsequential outside of potentially having a creepy half-pint in rompers run after you for the rest of the game. Not quite as harsh as the tendency system in Demon's Souls.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Personally, I like pairing my Arisen with Quina.
Well then, managed to somehow get lucky with purification; I managed to snag the Dragon's Ire, Opportunism, Assault Boots and the Crested Armguards after a random mix of some fifteen or so purifications. Now here's hoping my generated list has the Thousand Kisses ring close by.
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.I think your current class determines what equipments become available in the "purification pool." Meaning if you want a Thousand Kisses Ring, reclassing to a Ranger before the purification process is your best bet.
That's what I'm doing. I reclass both myself and my Main Pawn to Striders/Rangers before purifying my items with Orla so that my seeded list is purely from the Yellow table. It's how I got Dragon's Ire (that saves me having to hunt down an extra Moonbeam Gem; I'll probably get Dragon's Roost now instead).

By wolves and bandits, especially the black armored ones. I'm doing alright but it gets annoying at times.
