Caught up on this again in time for the end of the chapter. Still not sure how to process Mikaila surviving and Lemuel raising her into a gleeful child soldier.. And that ending page sure was something.
The Mikaila reveal might be one of my favorite plot twists of all time.
Also next chapter is the final one of "Book 1", so I predict some epic stuff (and deaths).

According to the author, Mikaila was planned from the start to be the main character of Book 2, and her "dying" was a later addition to the script to give Duane more motivation to leave Alderode and make her survival and counterattack more notable in-universe.
So yeah, Mikaila will apparently take over as the new main character soon, though Sette and Duane are xonfirmed to still be major players.

Interesting—I hadn't heard that Mikaila was planned to be the central protagonist for the next book!
And indeed, this comic... well, it seems to become darker and darker as it progresses! o_o There are some nightmarish things going on in the plot at the moment!
So far not so much that I'm put off from reading it, however—I'm still very much enjoying it!
But hey, at least with Sette's help Duane is (literally) keeping his head. ;P

Final chapter of book one.
That's an interesting title page.
Indeed! There are some... intriguing tidbits there...
Such as a figure that looks like a more-adult version of Sette, given the tail, and a decent chunk of the cast being used as nest-building material by Ilganyag...
And the first few pages are out now! We've at last seen a bit of Port Morstorben—and of Cutter, Anadyne, and the silver weapon. We've also looked in on the Aldish occupation of Grenzlan—and notably, thus on the two living Adeliers...
And amusingly, we've seen the elder of those last two being chewed out by his red-faced commanding officer, nineties-cop-movie-style. :P
Overall, it looks like some pretty dramatic stuff is coming together! ^_^

Sette seems to have kinda lost it.
Wonder how many of the implied character deaths over the last several pages are going to have staying power; this isn't a comic that shies away from showing beloved characters' gruesome demises.
Yup. There's a lot going on!
(Indeed, I don't think that I've kept track of all of it.)
Also, most recently there's our favourite attack-zombie slapping a fellow Ald! :P
