Sarcasm. How original. I think he may work. A fresh face may do the show more justice than someone that everybody knows and already has a mold that they are expected to fit into.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I'm not mad. I don't really know enough about him to say anything either way, to be honest. I agree with Fighteer. A new face might be better than someone whose reputation precedes them.
What's really funny is that you think bringing him on as a correspondent two months before Jon announced he was leaving was a coincidence.
He's only done three segments, and now he's going to take the reins by year's end, and you don't think that it was specifically to see how he fits on the show? Based on the timeline, it's kind of obvious he was always Comedy Central's first choice, don't you think?
I've heard that. I read somewhere (here?) that Jon Stewart basically hand-picked him, and on top of that he is apparently pretty popular in his home country. It would be kind of weird that they would pick an experienced stand-up comedian just for a few segments.
It strikes me that Stewart would never announce his departure without some idea of his replacement already in mind.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I like him and I think that he'll do a great job. I still wish that we could have a female host, but I'll just have to deal with it.
Ehhh, I dunno. Without the reserve of goodwill (both in terms of years of citizenship, "things I love about this country", and his tenure on the Daily Show) of a John Oliver, the Daily Show's natural format runs the risk of the show just turning into a smug foreigner going "Your country's a bit crap, isn't it?"
My various fanfics.Eh, that's John Oliver's role. And he's pretty good at it.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Plus, y'know, Trevor Noah is a half-black South African who was ten years old when apartheid ended and whose mother went to jail for marrying his father. I doubt he feels his home country is especially superior to ours.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Wow, congratulations to him. I've liked his few pieces on the show so far. He's funny, and he seems very comfortable on camera. I think he'll do a great job.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics. The internet is taking this well. I was expecting a lot of racism because, ya know, internet but this is worse then The Nightly Show debut. Lots of so-called progressives getting all bent outta shape 'cuz they don't want to hear about minorities all the time. As if Noah and Wilmore had just announced the Black Power Hour.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?Meh.
I'm not a huge fan of Trevor, but it is true that of the current correspondents, he has the best temperament to replace Jon by a fairly wide margin. It's just that ... that's not saying much. The reason the other personalities worked is because there's such a high contrast.
Count me as less than enthused.
I get the feeling that John Oliver was the original heir apparent, what with him actually subbing in the entire summer of 2013, but then he got his HBO Gig.
John Oliver leaving the daily show is the worst thing to ever happen to the Daily Show. EVAR.
Eh, I actually prefer LTW to the Daily show
"You can reply to this Message!"Then you are a complete monster!!!!!!!!!11111
So do I. John Oliver takes things a bit more seriously and provides more in the way of actual information, and seems to have moved towards encouraging his viewers to take action to change the outrageous policies/actions he exposes.
I don't know anything about Noah Taylor. I was hoping it would be Aasif.
Trevor Noah. At least try to get his name right.
I've seen more about his being a foreigner than his being not white. He has been a good straight man in his few appearances on the show and he apparently has experience with this type of hosting gig, so I'm optimistic that he won't screw up completely. His stand-up is also quality.
Sorry. Never heard of the guy before, was just trying to remember his name without checking and failed.

I think the bigger problem won't be Noah's race but just the fact that he's replacing someone who's been there for so long. Because he's foreign I think he side-steps the whole race issue a little bit.
Noah has quite some race cred: half black South African, half white Swiss (IIRC). He gets a lot of N-Word Privileges, although he won't be able to pull off Jon's Jewish schtick.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Even though he himself is Jewish?
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I think he's a great fit. I genuinely can't think of a comedian more fitting for politically-charged humor.
And seriously, the outcry over his tweets being offensive are people working very hard to be insulted. Those tweets weren't necessarily hilarious, but they were hilariously mild.

Looks like Trevor Noah is replacing Jon Stewart after all.
Instead of someone who is funny.
Or someone who has had more experience on the show.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.
