Names of sports ending in "ball" pretty much never have spaces like that. Baseball, basketball, football, football, Calvinball, softball, etc. So there shouldn't be a space in this title, since it's playing off that same sports-name-snowclone.
Rhymes with "Protracted."I think it's a valid trope to have, but that it should also definitely be YMMV. Also the definition should be expanded/altered to include "games which are explained/understood yet still, in the troper's opinion, derail the plot."
edit: Reviewing the thread I think I agree with Eternal, that as it stands it merely suggests a different trope we don't have yet - one which I think we should have, which should be YMMV - Gratuitous Sports Scene.
(Because I want to stick Quidditch on this page, of course.)

I thought it was an Idiot Ball snowclone as well(is The Unintelligible Ball tropable?), but I can see the logic. I think Unexplainedball would better represent the trope and avoid bringing up the wrong snowclone.
Yeah, let's rename this.
Just because something is not explained on-screen doesn't make it unintellegible. Unintellegible would be if it were explained on-screen and it still doesn't make any sense (Blernsball comes to mind).
Also, -ble does not sound like -ball, at least not where I live.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!I apologize for being late, but there is now a page action crowner for this trope here.
This title has brought 14 people to the wiki from non-search engine links since 20th FEB '09.
That last point is rather irrelevant, since it's obviously a pun, and does contain the same two consonants. That said, there's plenty of good reasons to rename this, like, it's obscure and slightly misleading (it applies to all sorts of games, not just ball games, and it sounds like another Idiot Ball snowclone).
We still have an open question on whether it should be YMMV. Given the current description, I would say yes.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.YMMV most definitely. It is, after all, about a writer expecting an audience to know the rules of a sport.
sport or game. CN's comment and apparent misinterpretation is yet more evidence that this needs a rename! :)
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Bump for more votes.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. As it's defined now, This is definitely not a trope. It's completely dependent on the audience not knowing the rules of the sport.
Move it to the forums. Call the thread "Dontcha just hate it when..." and have the first post be "...you don't know enough about sports to get what's happening in the story?"
But no, it's not a trope, YMMV or otherwise.
And what's that bit in the intro about the British also not understanding cricket? What, did the page's author spend a weekend drinking in London while his friends humored him about his ignorance?
About the Crowner: Shouldn't be be deciding whether to cut it seperatly from deciding whether to rename it? Because as the voting stand right now, we will have to cut it and rename it at the same time!
No, it's an obscure thing called a "tie" and we need more votes.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Cut is now +9 (yeas:12 nays:3) 4.00 : 1 while rename is only +4 (yeas:9 nays:5) 1.80 : 1 . Looking more like a decision.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.I think this is good enough. Cutlisting
It's been cut.
Crown Description:
What would be the best way to fix the page?
I think making it one word makes the trope name even more opaque. :)
