Can we really be sure being on "last parts of the game" means they're done? Because he could just mean they're working on the end of the scenario now, and that seems like a really long time to have to wait for an announcement.
Well, they said "by the end of the year", so it's not like they're getting it ready for gold master status right now. But it does mean the storyline, combat, etc are about done.
Jonah FalconLooked at the original Andriasang article. It seems the text on dqx.jp means ""But the door was firmly closed." In the comments, a person named Slimestack said, "That's pretty much what the games say when you try to open a locked door."
Dragon Quest 10 was announced after the Wii started succeeding. It has been in development for a long time... and assuming it does get released on the Wii, it might be one of the system's last few big-name games.
This has happened before with other DQ games. The sixth game was released near the end of the Super Famicom's lifecycle. Number seven was released near the end of the Playstation's lifecycle. Most DQ games seem to be developed slowly. This trend seems increasingly true for a number of other Square Enix games.
The difference being that most SE projects take forever because of sheer production value.
Dragon Quest games tend to be because they actually take care in crafting them.
I just hope it's a DS game.
Jonah FalconSo we're getting ogres and elves as job classes?!
Also, I hope "Online RPG" refers to something like IX and not a full on MMO.
You are not alone, and you are not strange. You are you, and everyone has damage. Be the better person.Doubt it'll be an MMO. Wii can't handle a true MMO.
Jonah FalconOH MY FUCKING GOD YES. I highly doubt I will play with other people because I have little interest in such things, but...
OH MY FUCKING GOD YES.
-prepares for new Dragon Quest-
I AM SO FUCKING READY. Ohhhhhh~
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahIt appears to be a full MMO. Customizable player housing, spectators can affect combat with Egg On, item customization system, optional AI party members taken from off-line player characters. Looks interesting to me.
There's also a version for the Wii U with upgraded graphics. I'm not quite sure if the Wii version will even come out in English though.
Six races: "Human", Ogre, Elf, Dwarf, what appears to be a water-isk one, and a really tiny one. Forgot what the last two's names were.
Edit: More details here.

Helpful Scripts and Stylesheets here.Well, at least it has Wifi, so I can take advantage of the multiplayer features that I couldn't with Dragon Quest IX due to none of my friends owning the game.
Still, I'm a bit dissapointed that this game (so far) looks like it's going to be a DQIX style DQ game. I enjoyed DQIX, but generic characters aren't always the most fun for me.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft instead"full MMO"
Well shit, save for divine intervention, I'll have to sit this one out.
fuck my life /wrists
You are not alone, and you are not strange. You are you, and everyone has damage. Be the better person.I still kinda want it, but if It has a subscription fee in America, then that's that. If I want to play a subscription mmo, I'll get World Of Warcraft. Even Monster Hunter dropped the fee in america.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft instead"Subscription fee".

...
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel like crying now...
You got IX so fucking perfect and then you do this?

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahI'm saying IF it has one. I don't think they said anything about one. I wouldn't be surprised if Japan has one at least though.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadTake this with a grain of salt since I heard it from the Game Faqs forums, but you can play offline as well.
EDIT: Nevermind. Found a better source:

Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!"It appears to be a full MMO. It's no more a "full MMO" than Borderlands.
Jonah Falcon-hopes to God I can play it offline because why do I want to play with other people-
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahBecause I'm a cool guy and you'd LOVE to share your gaming funtimes with me?
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadLIES. DRAGON QUEST IS MY LONELY HERMIT SERIES.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahI find the possibility of playing offline unlikely, as it seems that several features, including recruiting NPC allies, is reliant on online play. The conference made no mention of offline play, but did say that the game can be completed 100% solo.
Helpful Scripts and Stylesheets here.
Surprise! It's nearly done.
