I like it quite a bit.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickLooks good.
Don't take life too seriously. It's only a temporary situation.Fine with me.
Reaction Image RepositoryI went ahead and put it up, but I'll hold off on asking for a lock for now.
I'm not too excited about it. The quality is kind of meh and the sound effects get in the way, I think.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Happy with it.
Fight smart, not fair. Here's how that one looks (view image for wiki size).
It's an acceptable image, but I'd like to see more options.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Anyone else got anything to suggest, or should we lock this up?
We're done here.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.I'm not locking this discussion yet. The only way I can see the picture is if I hold the laptop three inches from my face. It should be resized or we need a better image.
That's as big as it can get, and given what the trope's all about, I don't think any other example is going to be much better composition-wise. I gotta say, though, I'm sitting over two feet away from my monitor and I can easily tell what's going on in the pic.

Well that small bubble is rather distracting.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.Because I know Asterix I can infer the significance of the picture. However just looking at it I see a big guy in green surrounded by balloons with the word "Bang" in them. The mook could be a banana or a hapless palm tree.
The size also throws the proportions of the page off. If it were bigger it would be perfect. I toyed around with it and understand that length wise it is correct wiki size.

Nothing at all iffy at about my monitor and I can't tell what's going on, either. It isn't helping us sell the trope. It's just an eye test. We can do better.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyI don't think we can zoom it at all. It's too flat.
Fight smart, not fair.I fiddled around with it in paint but it really has to be big to work.
I looked through the example list, and the TMNT video game scene has some good examples of this attack. I'll try to get some screencaps tonight...it'll probably take a multi-panel pic but it should definitely be cleaner than the Asterix pic.

Alright, here are two multi-panel pics I made from the TMNT game, showing two different examples of the trope. We don't have to use all the panels, I just wanted to get as many of the sprites in as I could to show the entire move.

Yay Turtles In Time.
Fight smart, not fair.I wonder if the page image on Amusing Injuries shows how it can be done. Here's a cropped version.
There the victim is on one side, with his movement being implied. That way you can see what's happening at 320px wide. The quality isn't great: maybe there's a better image out there in this style.
(The pic itself seems not to be an example, however — that's a comedy scene not a beatdown, right?)

My gripe with that is that it doesn't show enough of the motion to clearly display the trope...he could be about to whirl Darkwing over his head, sling him up into the air, or something else than what the trope is all about. The Asterix pic nailed it...I'm still at a loss as to how people are not seeing what's happening there clearly.

^ I can understand people who say it's too small, though. I'll try to see if I can find similar pics, but in a diagonal view instead of an horizontal one, in other Asterix books. I remember the 12 Travaux d'Asterix one had one of Obélix being at the receiving end of a Metronomic Mook Massacre, but I need to find the book and see if the motion is complete.
