^^^ So thats what happened to Mr. Fluffles.
So, if we can escape the black hole that is endless arguing over whether DK 64 ruined everything ever, and whether Evolve means Good, getting back to devs who can actually do some good things with another developers IP after they couldn't do a anything good with it.
I've got Bethesda, Rockstar, Retro, and I'll throw in Crystal Dynamics for Tomb Raider Legends.
It's too bad Pandemic died, they would have been perfect for Jet Force Gemini 2.
You mean after Destroy All Humans?
I was thinking Mercenaries, but yeah that too.
I'm hoping Nintnedo gets them back.
I am completely, utterly, and thoroughly done with Sola Sonica and 2DMe too, but that's not going to happen anytime soon.
Why I am afraid of fences.GAAAAAAAAAAAH!
I'm gonna have to agree with Indigo here. Nintendo didn't really have much to do with Rare's success. They were already declining near the time they were to be sold to Microsoft. (Star Fox Adventures anybody?)
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Except Star Fox Adventures was a good game.
It was pretty flawed, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
If nothing else, it was fucking gorgeous.
Pretty flawed? Maybe your copy's different from mine, I didn't noticed many problems.

Repetitive combat, meh music, Krystal (I like her, but the girl has no emotion), having to wait until morning to talk to dinosaurs bit, which is pretty annoying if you're trying to progress the story, the copout final battle...
It wasn't a bad game; I just thought that it could've been a lot better.
The voice acting and puzzles were awesome, as was the Tricky gameplay.

I didn't find combat to be any more repetitive than alot of other games and I liked the music.
I'm not the person to ask about voice acting (or acting in general) so no comment on Krystal.
I never had a problem waiting for dinos to wake up, good timing I guess...

I would put Star Fox Adventures about level with Kameo.
Lets be perfectly honest - even with their declining quality, Rare haven't done anything thats flat out true horrible apart from Perfect Dark Zero - everything else had some redeeming qualities.
Then I guess I should go buy Kameo. Does it have impossible-to-read-without-an-HDTV-text?
Dunno, I played it with an HDTV
I still want Nintendo to get them back, if for no other reason than that I want to have the games on a console that I have regular access to.
While we're at it, I want to see more of every good developer on the Wii.
Why I am afraid of fences.Star Fox Adventures was a great game. Yes, it was Zelda Light, but it had a legitimately interesting story, BEAUTIFUL GRAPHICS and one of the best soundtracks ever (David Wise, you need to go freelance man, you're too good for modern Rare).
I've actually been looking for this one pic since I noticed this thread, it's a pic of Krystal from SFA in a dungeon chained to a Gamecube and she's looking at the moon crying saying "I wish...come back to Rare". That pic always makes me a little misty-eyed and if anybody knows where I can find it again I'd appreciate it.
Actually, David Wise did go freelance recently. He might even do the soundtrack to the inevitable sequel to Donkey Kong Country Returns.

Really? Cool. I officially no longer care about Rare.
As long as they have the Banjo Kazooie franchise and especially Grant Kirkhope, I still care about them.
Why I am afraid of fences.Kirkhope is good, but not as good as Wise IMO. I've always like Jet Force Gemini better than Banjo Kazooie, but BK is still a good game.
EDIT: Nope, Retro was Independent when they were making Metroid Prime, according to Wikipedia. They were only purchased months before the release of the game. Seems we were both wrong.
But even from the beginning, they were funded by Nintendo to make games exclusively for Nintendo and without Nintendo wouldn't even exist. They were first party in all but name before they literally became a subsidiary.
Sorry, this just always bugs me as much as "Rare should beg Nintendo to take them back".
