Okay there is only one trailer for this show, but it has me HOOKED. Dinosaurs, Spielberg, and Stephen Lang? Dear God yes. Sadly the graphics look...subpar, and its Sci-fi on fox, so it will probably get canceled almost immediately.

Your thoughts? For some reason I see this show causing many Paleontologists to cry many, many, manly tears.

Terra Nova is the name of the place I live in Latin. We don't have dinosaurs where I live, though.

First impression: Swiss Family Robinson with dinosaurs and machine guns.

Thanks for the all fish!

Apparently it’s going with the “man destroyed the Earth by not being environmentally friendly enough” plot for why we decide to colonize the past, so long they don’t hammer that message every episode I think it will be good.

Does anyone else see the potential problem of humanity living in the past with the dinosaurs? I mean, there was some sort of extinction level event that killed them all off. Isn't going that far into the past a death sentence for the human race in it's own right?

Maybe they build an anti-asteroid rail gun. It is the future... sort of.

[up][up]Depending on when they arrived, they could have millions of years before having to worry about it.

Wasn't humans living with dinosaurs basically the Sir Arthur Conan Doyles The Lost World show's plot?

First impression: Swiss Family Robinson with dinosaurs and machine guns.
Which makes it Incredibly Awesome.

I really hope they have a good answer for that temporal paradox, and an explanation for picking a time period where being eaten alive by a three ton carnivore instead of when there's little bigger than a shi-tzu around was a good idea.

I mean, there was some sort of extinction level event that killed them all off. Isn't going that far into the past a death sentence for the human race in it's own right?
Go back 66 million years and you've given yourself a million years to figure out how to deal with that issue.

It's obviously just an excuse to have dinosaurs running around.
And since it gets us dinosaurs that's perfectly acceptable.

I bring this back up since we're about two months away from the show's premier. I for one am excited. Horrified that its Fox doing it, but still excited and hoping it can dodge the Fox curse.

The problem with the shi-tzu theory is that it makes contamination of the time line more likely. A T-rex here or there isn't too bad, since they're going to be extinct anyway and the line is going to die off. As long as they avoid eating the small mammals, they'll be fine.

Except that it's hard to know that anything you kill could have an effect. After all, kill off the wrong dinosaur, too many of rodent type X survives and drives rodent type Y to extinction. The only problem is that type Y could survive the KT boundary while X is pretty much fucked.

As an explanation for why they choose to go back to dinosaur times I actually like it. "They're all dead in a million years anyways so what's the big deal?" It still has issues but it sort of works. Frankly I'd rather them just say that time travel creates alternate time lines so while you might change the course of history the history that produced your time travel capable species is fine.

My first impression was Jurassic Park meets Lost. HELL YES. I'm so excited for this show, you have no idea. Terra Nova and Once Upon A Time are the only new shows I'm looking forward to. I have a feeling Fox will screw it over, but I'm still going to watch.

I was actually thinking Jurassic Park/Stargate Universe which would be not so good. Then again I think it was the back packs, glowy portal, and Colonel Quaritch's "welcome" speech.

Regardless, I have high hopes.

You know this movie has inspired an insane theory of mine. Since the show involves time travel obviously there are multiple Quartichs running around!wild mass guess Therefore he can return for the Avatar sequel...in the mech suit....riding a T-Rex that he made his bitch.wild mass guess

I wish they had showed the pilot episode in May when they had said they would. Oh well still looking forward to this. Either is going to be good...or so bad its good. Regardless Fox will probably kill it pretty quickly since you know their Fox and the root of all evil.

Wait, they colonize the past?

That's... a hell of a lot more interesting than I first thought. I imagined that it was just people going back to the past to hunt dinosaurs.

Yeah, we polluted the modern world to the point of being unlivable, so we're going back in time to do it to the dinosaurs as well.

Oh come on with time travel involved you just KNOW at some point they will be able to go back to the future.

Anyway the Dinosaur hunt thing would be cool, but I think sci-fi channel already did that as the plot of a shitty B movie. Also I think I read a book like that in early high school.

[up][up] ...The pollution thing is possibly Fridge Brilliance. The KT event basically caused an ecological Reboot, so it doesn't actually matter if we pollute 66 million years ago, since 66 million years of evolution will deal with it.

New poster. Colonel Badass looks like he is having fun

http://www.dailyblam.com/news/2011/08/02/new-promo-poster-for-steven-spielbergs-sci-fi-series-terra-nova

Also a new trailer as well. Which got me thinking

A.) Future were we have to wear gasmasks on earth? And its set around the 2150's...obviously the time machine is powered by Unobtanium!

B.) The main character is an excop....and the Colonel is helping him get his badge back. Is it his real badge?

I have a feeling this show is going to be a fountain of memes.
