Okay Nudi, use Rain Dance!

-Nudi creates a torrential downpour-

-Has recieved the email about my next opponent-

/Duck/: -From inside the computer- >Fantina eh?

Nets: -From my shoulder- <I bet I could take her down easy.>

Me: Don't get too cocky. She's a gym leader, most of the time they have to use a weak team on pourpose.

-Lance sighs, then pulls his cape over his head to prevent his hair getting wet.-

Lance: Typical. Charizard, return. Go! Gyarados!

-Lance sends out his Gyarados, which then roars intimidatingly.-

Stratus: <Gyarados! -Sniff- Dad...>

Lake: <Aww...>

-Lake pats Stratus on the back to try and make him feel better.-

(I sit in the stands watching the battle)

— Come on, Tagg! Show him a lesson! And Tangent will raise your salary!

(It is unlikely that it will happen, but hey...)

(Dintel comes in, carrying a big popcorn bag which he can barely balance over him.

Dintel — <Uff... good thing Trainer let me buy the popcorn! *shifts eyes to the battle* Oh! A downpour! Luckily this popcorn will protect me!>

— ...Dintel! Get over here! (grabs the Pokémon by the waist and sits it on my leap) And why are you carrying the popcorn like that?

Dintel — "..Sash!" <Hey! Because I am a good Sandshrew and I can not get wet!>

(Grabs popcorn, me and Dintel start eating)

-Nudi gets intimidated-

Don't lose heart Nudi, use Ice Beam!

-Nudi fires an Ice Beam at Gyrados-

-Gyarados takes the attack, taking a good amount of damage.-

Lance: Crunch!

-The Pokemon roars, then charges at Nudi, grabs him with his sharp jaws and bites down hard.-

Dragonite: <Oh! I'm sorry about your Gastrodon!>

Nudi: <Ah!> -Takes a fair amount of damage-

Nudi, use this opportunity to fire another one!

-Nudi takes the opportunity presented by Gyarados biting him to fire an Ice Beam right in his face-

-Buizel comes out, not noticing Bisharp is also out-

Buizel: Hey, this is going to... ah, it's that guy who tried to eat me again! -runs around, faster because of the rain-

Bisharp: ...

-Finally makes it back into the stadium from retrieving Breeze- Someone's battling Lance? Ooh. -sits down to watch-

<Nadia: "Ooh... Looks like Tagg's going to have a rough time in this fight...">

<Shaun: "We'll see. I mean he has pulled through tougher spots as a fighter.">

<Nadia: "... True.">

<Teala: "Who's his opponent?">

<Shaun: "That's Lance. He's a big shot with the Indigo League. But... For some reason I heard that he's not well liked in some circles...">

<Teala: "Aww... Because he uses dragons...?">

<Shaun: "I think I recall some controversy with some of his Dragonite a few years ago. I remember that some people saying that he had done something to them...">

-Obviously not enjoying the abrupt downpour-

<Lardna: "Wait, what did he do?">

<Shaun: "No one was able to pin down anything on him, but I remember a few people saying that he had somehow gotten involved in some sort of experiment that forced Pokemon to evolve early.">

"Oh that... Yeah, he never really gave an explanation for how he managed to get Dragonite like those three... I remember that there was also some controversy about some of his Dragonite before he became the Indigo League's champion..."

<Milo: "I thought that other humans said that he was a nice guy, though.">

<Shaun: "Well, also a touch rash, but I heard the same too. That's why I was surprised to hear people speak so poorly of him...">

<Vlad: "Maybe there's more to his story?">

<Shaun: "Maybe.">

-Gyarados can't do anything to dodge the hit, and ends up fainting from the damage, releasing Nudi from his jaws.-

Gyarados: <You tasted horibble anyway...>

Lance: Gyarados, return. Go! Altaria! Use Dragon Pulse!

-Altaria is released, the immediately fires a burst of shockwaves from it's beak at Nudi.-

<Teala: "... That fluffy bird is a dragon?">

<Nadia: "As hard as it is to believe, yes, it is...">

By the way, the reason that Fantina has such a low difficulty rating is because she is the third Gym Leader in Platinum instead of the fifth, and Platinum is canon in our continuity.

Nudi: -Is covered with the foul tasting purple fluid his species has as a defense mechanism- <Thanks.>

-Gets hit by Dragon Pulse and is brought down to the low yellow-

Nudi, use Ice Beam again!

-Nudi fires an Ice Beam at Altaria-

Lance: I don't think so! Use Safeguard!

-Altaria puts up a shield around it's body, the Ice Beam freezing on the shield, then shattering harmlessly.-

Lance: Now, Double Team!

-Several clones of Altaria suddenly spring into existence.-

I wondered when you'd start up. Nudi, use Ice Beam and spin!

-Nudi spins round and round, aiming for every Altaria he can see-

<Nadia: "Grr... I hate that move so much...">

<Shaun: "Come now, it's a perfectly valid battle tactic, Nadia...">

-Still getting wet-

<Lardna: "Do you happen to have an umbrella in there, Tracer?">

<Vlad: "Yeah, this moisture's really annoying...">

"Sorry... I don't have one... Did you want me to recall you two?"

<Vlad: "... No, I'll live...">

<Lardna: "If this downpour doesn't stop soon, I might take you up on that offer...">

-Nudi's spinning Ice beam manages to hit every Altaria, including the real one, who takes a lot of damage.-

Lance: Oh, that was clever. Altaria! Use Sing!

-Altaria starts singing a hauntingly beautiful tune.-

Dragonite: <Uh-oh!> -Covers his ears.-

-pulls out an umbrella to shield herself from the sudden downpour-

This is why you always come prepared.

Felis: <If that were true, then you'd have made sure to sign up for participation in this tournament when it was open.>

-sigh- Rub it in, why don't you. Can't we just watch?

-has let out Toxicroak-

Toxicroak: Hehehe....-is soaking up the rain happily-

Nudi: -Falls asleep-

Crap.

Lance: Excellent! Now, Hyper Beam!

-Altaria charges up, then fires an enormous beam of orange energy at Nudi, causing a large explosion on impact.-

Dragonite: <Oh no! That poor Gastrodon! I'm so sorry, sir!>

<Nadia: "Hmm... Looks like that slug thing might be in trouble...">

<Lardna: "Somehow, I don't feel particularly bad for it...">

<Shaun: "Lardna... He's in battle... He has to worry about defeating an opponent...">

<Lardna: "I don't see why he couldn't have picked a strategy that didn't involve getting an audience of thousands of spectators soaked...">

-Watches Nudi get Hyper Beam'd-

<Milo: "Ooh... That looked like it hurt...">

<Nadia: "Gee, ya think?">
