The Societal Effects of Perverse Sexual Lust, or People Who Are Only Into 2D Girls

On an IRC channel I'm on, I had this conversation.

It just really hit me how unhealthy this is, and what we are doing about this.

On the other hand...it's not like lusting over 2D girls is a totally new thing. Look at cultures with pornographic artworks before cameras were invented.

Unless those get a free pass for being "art".

That's...special...I mean...I've *ahem* appreciated Fanservice and the like but to the exclusion of all other forms of...uhm...service.

Anyway, I don't think this is meaningfully different from asexuality. There seems to be an awful lot of misogyny mixed in there though, which is definitely unhealthy for living in society. If you subtract that part, you just get an asexual with unusual masturbation habits. Which I'd certainly hope they don't feel obliged to talk to me about.

I think in the end though, the "2D fetish" part is merely derived from the misogyny or whatever caused that. It's a symptom of a separate problem, rather than the cause of it. That's the way I see it anyway.

I guess. I'd like to see input from other people though because I experienced this first hand just now. If you recheck the pastebin, I added some lines that were added later.

Without getting into religion, I don't honestly understand how 2-d models of people can replace real people. If I could, I would love to become an anime character and be part of that world, but I know that's impossible so I remain firmly rooted to reality and what's actually happening. I find 2-D girls attractive, but would never confuse it with a real girl.

Are those characters from Mitsudomoe?

We need to get Chagen in here, he understands how the brains of those kinds of people work.

I pity him a bit a 2D character can't offer someone love and he recognizes that yet still chooses that over 3D women because they can't judge him and are good to look at. I've had Perverse Sexual Lust over 2D girls it's normal somewhat, but not to this extent.

This thing is rather common around the internet. Wasn't there some guy in the Philippines that married a Love Plus character or something? (I had pics of it somewhere... the guy was next to a pillow in the wedding photo.)

Seeing pictures of it is one thing. Chatting with someone like that, who further adds misogyny to their argument is even worse.

On another note, it's Sawa-chan's birthday on the 31st.

If it were a Filipino I would've known because it definitely would've made the news in my very predominantly Roman Catholic country.

Its a two part problem. First is girls who reject otaku (likely to be not so attractive in the first) due to having an unreasonable requirements. Secondly is otaku (which is somewhat socially withdrawn in the first place), withdraw into a fantasy world(2D girls) as some form of escapism/self comfort after being rejected/fear of being rejected.

There a poll somewhere in Sankaku Complex thats shows the demands of Japanese girls, which quite difficult for the average male(not just otaku) to satify. Being Sankaku Complex I take it with a grain of salt, but I have read about Japanese girls being materialistic outside of Sankaku. In fact, it a trait common to east Asian (Chinese, Korean, Japanese) girls as well.

I hate to generalize on race, but there are news and research that confirm this.

Aren't people typically materialistic anyway?
