While this is just for fun, please support your opinions with evidence. Now I've seen two interpretations of Tsukune's character. One, he really is a fundamentally good person. Two, he is a fundamentally selfish person. Which interpretation do you agree with? Or perhaps you have a third option?

I believe it's the former. I just can't find any evidence proving otherwise.

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.

Tsukune is probably the most moral character in the franchise. He cares for Moka and his friends and will lay down his life to save them. While I'll be the first to say that he can be an idoit, he makes up for it with his badassery and kind heart. He will fight for a peacefull balance between man and monster whilst trying to tame his more darker urges. The darkness does not make him a bad person since the main point of humanity is to overcome your own issues. In summation, he is a hero that's as moral as Superman and Captain America, even if does get the ocassional dirty thought.

I must agree with halkz 92. I can't think of any selfish actions on Tsukune's part offhand. Even when Gin framed him, he really didn't try to rat Gin out for the frame. As for the occasional dirty thought? C'mon, he is a teenaged boy AND, given what's going on around him, he'd have to be brain dead - or just dead, but that's not much of an option at the Academy - to not have a dirty thought. Or three. darkholme, can you offer any suggestions or evidence where selfishness is a motivating factor for Tsukune?

Or, as Socrates said, "I drank what?"

The selfish Tsukune idea probably comes from the fact that he doesn't seem that interested in the romantic suggestions by everyone else in his harem, but at least he does smarten up. Plus the dirty thoughts is kind of a side affect to the supernatural origins of his girls. For example:

Moka: Vampires are sex gods and in some cultures, the bat (a major staple in vampire lore) are sex symbols.

Mizore: Traditional Japanes beauty with a pale complextion due to being in the cold.

Kurumu: Do I even need to say why?

What probably astounds me is that not only can he resist the temptation to do the nasty with a succubus which is lust incarnate (goddamn Guardians of Oa should make him a Green Lantern for that) but somehow reverse it and make her the obsessive love freak.

PS Apologies for that earlier comment Kurumu fanboys. It's pretty sad to say that because Kurumu is my 4th favorite character in the series with Tsukune being my favorite.
