As far as I know, STALKER 2 was finished, but the guy running the company decided to go all stroppy and shut down the studio.

Nooooo!

That really upsets me. ;_;

MMO aren't my thing either but I think it would work well with the stalker setting. The Zone is a livening breathing place full of murderous thrill seekers who will kill you for can of beans and a bottle of vodka. That suits the mindset of the typical MMO player

Seems like this is it

http://survarium.com/en

Not quite a true S.T.A.L.E.R. MMO but the heavy influences are obvious

The stalker series is available here: http://www.gamersgate.co.uk/DDB-STALKERC/stalker-collection-bundle

for a massive discount of 66 percent.

Bit of advice, don't use Norton Internet Security, as that software HATES gamersgate for no real good reason I can see, and repeatedly gives false positives which fuck your downloads.

Further problems with the Stalker bundle - limited installs on the Call of Pripyat install. Fricking Starforce piece of crap software is the cause.

It's an incentive to piracy when folks pay for a game and still get fucked over.

Add the fact that the Call of Pripyat install is an edition that requires you to already have one of the other two titles and things are a bit squiffy, to be honest.

Yeah, from what I know the Steam version had all its third-party drm schemes removed.

As much as I try to support alternative for the sake of competition I would go with steam then even if it does cost more.

*hugs hardcopies*

Aye, I think I learned my lesson on the Pripyat one. Pity is that the other two may have drm but they don't have that rat bugger of an activation limit. Most infuriating.

Finally got round to playing Pripyat. Much much harder than I remembered it being. AK 74s are almost useless at close range and the knives don't do enough damage quickly enough on those bloody dogs.

Call of Pripyat Complete is bloody good though.

It's rather easy to load up with near-endgame gear even when you're only in Zaton tho...without full upgrades of course. I mean you can buy most good guns from Nimble, and the only good guns that are needed to get outside of Zaton are only Strelok's gun and the Gauss Gun I think...well and the Avalanche if you're going for Soviet guns...

True. Getting money is the problem when you want the best guns from Nimble early game though. I got a Vintorez from the stash site at the burning village thingy but I haven't enough boolets to make it worth while using at the moment.

And I hate dogs. This will probably be a running theme until I finish the game again, :P

Starting off is hard, but once you got decent detector (Bear and up) and such you can easily make lots of money selling artifacts to Beard...

Also there's also AN-94 and SVD you can get in Zaton too...those can last you a long time before you get cash to get really good guns from Nimble...

Could have sworn there was a real nice stash somewhere early in with some good weapons.

But I can't remember now

Yeh. In my current playthrough I am just bimbling through the Zone looking for stashes. I got a Desert Eagle, a SPAS-12, a Vintorez, a good condition AK-74, an AK-74SU, a new body armor and a new respirator, those latter two from the corpses of the stalkers who used to hang out with Cardan. I haven't found any night vision stuff yet, which made one particular encounter I stumbled into rather harrowing - i.e. I got killed lots before I could drop the bastards who were trying to steal an artifact I recovered from the dredger.

Ok. If I see a strange stalker in the Zone I am most definitely not going to ask him "When?"

Very funny piccy, thanks for posting.

A mod that linked all three game maps used in Stalker would be nirvana. Well, all three maps and a kickass overarching plot would be nirvana.
