Well, you can add weapons to the game normally, but it is a bit of a faff to get working.

Anyone do a S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Equestria fic yet?

I've really been into the game lately (killing my first bloodsucker was awesome), specifically the STALKER Complete 2009 mod.

I found a silencer (which in this mod can be used on a lot more than the standard game). Is it good for anything? Most things you ambush will be dead before they reach, so I really doubt it's worth the reduction in power, accuracy, and bullet velocity.

Any weapon recommendation? The good old-fashion AK-74 seems to be doing a lot for me. I just entered the sewer under the Agroprom Facility for the first time.

Also, are loading times starting the game up and changing areas suppose to be this long? I've literally spent over four minutes just going from one area to another.

[up] @thatother1dude

If you search carefully, you'll find Strelok's hideout, where he's stashed a custom rapid fire AK-74. If you find a PSO-1 scope you can equip it on the AK-74 or AN-94 if you find one. In the long run however, even if you find a stockpile of armor piercing 5.45 rounds, the AK might not be enough to get you through the whole game.

Later on when you come into the Wild Territory, you'll find the bandits using 5.56 caliber rifles. The Z&M LR 300 (one of the guns they carry) can be equipped with a SUSAT scope, silencer, and M203 grenade launcher, but the one drawback is that you need to pay attention to it's condition else it might jam.

Avoid the standard Enfield L 85 A 1, it's one of the heaviest rifles in the game and jams more often than the Z&M LR 300. However if you decide to take assassination missions from Snitch, you'll kill a Stalker and take his Lightened L85-A1, which is half the weight of the regular L 85 A 1, comes with an integrated scope, silencer, and in contrast to the standard rifle, it rarely if ever jams.

Also if I were you, I'd keep enough of your inventory open for the VSS Vintorez to have alongside your main rifle.

Hope that helps ^-^. The weapons I listed should tide you over till you get to the Red Forest or Pripyat.

Later on when you come into the Wild Territory, you'll find the bandits using 5.56 caliber rifles.

I've actually found a good deal of them already—including the AP variant—because the H&K G36 is somewhat common among bandits (although not so common that I can easily use it as my primary weapon). Is it like that in the standard game, or unique to the mod?

I'd keep enough of your inventory open for the VSS Vintorez to have alongside your main rifle.

Complete increases the weight limit a bit (from 50->60kg), so I've only had trouble when I try to mule around stuff into stashes or to merchants. For I while I've been carrying some sort of assault rifles with several hundred rounds, a sawed-off shotgun with about one hundred rounds, some sort of handgun with about 100 rounds, about 30 items of food, a dozen anti-rad meds, health packs, bandages, and various artifacts (mostly to sell, but I actually use a couple, like slug and crystal).

Speaking of which, is the money worth the effort to hall stuff to traders instead of just selling what I can to random stalkers for less? Keep in mind, I have item repair (from two of the traders and from rare dropped kits), so keeping backup guns is less of an issue.

It might be unique to the mod, cause usually you're not supposed to stumble upon H&K G36s till you get to the Army Warehouses area where the Freedom Base and the Barrier is. Skinflint at the Freedom Base sells them after you do enough jobs for his faction, but it's expensive. You don't need to join Freedom to receive missions from Lukash their leader. Also you can find a H&K G36 in one of the cars at the barrier for free. It's one of the best assault rifles in the game.

As for hauling rifles and what not to sell to traders, it depends on what you want to sell. AK-74s, AN-94s, and AKS-74s, don't fetch much in terms of money but if you have them stockpiled near or in the Bar might as well lighten the load. But me honestly, if I ever needed money all I had to do was head into Wild Territory and wipe out the outpost of Bandits/Mercenaries in the concrete building that's on the way to Yantar. They carry the SIG SG-550s and Z&M L R300s, the latter selling for quite a bit more. Letting the bandits/mercs re spawn and doing the occasional sweep will net you enough Z&M L R300s for money. When it comes to artifacts, droplets are common on the way to and in Yantar so you can sell them. If you find any moonlights or springs I'd keep them, because moonlights are great for endurance and springs for impact damage. Fireballs you might as well sell. But mind you, the mobile lab in Yantar is the only place where you can sell artifacts at full price, the other traders cheat you.

Also I would replace that sawn off shotgun with Mossberg Maverick 88 if you can find one, or better yet the Modified Winchester which is the best shotgun in the game. The modified Winchester you find in a stash in Wild Territory.

If you don't mind me asking, what armor do you currently have?

It might be unique to the mod, cause usually you're not supposed to stumble upon H&K G36s till you get to the Army Warehouses area where the Freedom Base and the Barrier is.

Then it's definitely because of the mod, because I've got like a half dozen of them already.

EDIT: I stand corrected, what I keep finding is the H&K MP5A5. I kept thinking it was an assault rifle (it's actually the game's one submachine gun, not counting modified versions), and since the G36 is the only H&K assault rifle I could find on any weapons list that's what I assumed it was.

Also I would replace that sawn off shotgun with Mossberg Maverick 88 if you can find one, or better yet the Modified Winchester which is the best shotgun in the game. The modified Winchester you find in a stash in Wild Territory.

I'd have replaced it long ago if any other shotgun was available. It's mostly just good for killing big animals I don't want to waste assault rifle rounds on and occasional very close range combat. Especially since I decided to to stop using crosshairs, because even with slugs you can't really aim the damn thing with no iron sight.

EDIT: I've been using bandit armor for a while, though I've been through several different sets of it (some was more than down to more than half durability).

Did you get this?

http://stalker.wikia.com/wiki/%22Tunder%22_5.45

Because it is hands-down the best 5.45mm rifle in the game. And you can give it a PSO-1 optical scope for long range whacking of dogs and other nasties. The webpage above tells you how to get hold of it.

Nope, don't have it and I'm already way past that part.

Even if I wasn't, I don't want to grind for 20,000 RU before completing a single storyline mission just to get a Disc-One Nuke.

[up]Well, that is where you and me differ. Anything that gives me an edge is something I am willing to work for. Get hold of some artifacts, do some bounty missions and the money rolls in. Then you can go hunting the Spetznaz in their camp south of the Rookie Village and harvest all their AKSU-74's, AK-74MS and if you are lucky, Abakans with your new rifle.

Oh you're gonna need more than that bandit suit cause the enemy stalkers will really start hitting hard. There's a mercenary suit at the Cordon rookie village. If you climb up the ladder where Wolf is standing, climb onto the roof and hop onto the house behind it, you'll find a hole in that house's roof where it will be. This is assuming you haven't found a Stalker Suit (which comes with Night Vision).

As for a better shotgun, you said you were in the Agroprom Underground right? Well in the second room right before the circular staircase down (where the Bandits are waiting) I found a Threaded SPAS in the little boiler room. You need to get it repaired before using it though. It says it's built more for slugs and dart rounds, but I used buckshot just fine. The only downside is that it's a BIG shotgun and is a heavier than the sawn-off. If you aren't comfortable with the SPAS, you can discover coordinates for a stash in Wild Territory (by checking a dead stalker's body in that area) for the Modified Winchester, the best shotgun in the game in my opinion.

[up]Well since writing that I found a Mercenary suit near the entrance to the Agroprom factory when I looked over the place again.

I've already left the Underground, and don't feel like going there just for a shotgun (since I'm in the bar right now that would mean like 20 minutes of load time). I'll probably be in Wild Territory soon, so I'll try to remember.

Speaking of which, I accidentally did things out of "order". After finding Strelok's stash, I left immediately after taking some weapons, completely missing the USB, then raided the Agroprom facility without even waiting for the night like I would later be advised. After I noticed the mission was still listed as incomplete, I went down again and found the USB, but exited from the same entrance that I came in so the "exit underground" part won't leave the mission list.

I noticed you can switch between firing modes on guns with selective fire, but I can't find any way to tell which one you're on—or even how many a weapon has—without wasting ammo checking. Am I missing something?

There should be a letter or a number next to the ammo type text in parenthesis. Like (A) for automatic or (1) for single shot.

Oh "original" STALKER, got into perhaps the coolest seeming fight ever: clearing the Freedom base with Duty, at night, during a storm. That would have been the greatest battle ever if the psychic enemies were utterly crippled like I was. After an hour or two of spraying bullets at nothing in the darkness, getting murdered by effectively invisible snipers and slowly reloading the game, I gave up and uninstalled it.

The game has amazing moments but puts too much effort into pissing me off. Meanwhile, Pripyat is brilliant and such an amazing upgrade.

Quest hub is in their base and the game angers me enough as is. I did try sneaking around but I can't see where I'm going and the rest of their army gets me. I expected higher difficulty in exhanged for something dramatic and cool but it became functionally impossible.

Plus, the Zone and the shit it births are crazy. Keep it where it belongs rather then on the black market.
