This is still creeping me out.
I'm feeling strangely happy now, contented and serene. Oh don't you see, finally I'll be, somewhere that's green...

It's simple really. You present a work you like in such a way it reminds you of a real life event.
It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.

Similar to Better Than It Sounds, Worse Than It Sounds, Paint the Hero Black, Villain Whitewashing Service, etc, but DOUBLED. First, put what the piece of fiction reminds you of, in spoiler tags. Then, post a description that could apply to either (no spoiler tags). Finally, post the name of the fiction, also in spoiler tags.
The Arizona shooting from yesterday.
A man with mental problems goes to a public event to shoot a public figure who he hates. He shoots into the crowd, and though he fails to kill his actual target (despite reducing them to a state where they are incapable of doing their civic duty), he does kill at least one civilian- an innocent who dreamed to make the world a better place through nonviolent means. The press gets all over it and it forever cements him as a villain in the public eye.
