So, gonna start this game. RPG classic, yadda yadda. What should I know?
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.um...theres no encounters on the world map so you can listen to 600.A.D's song without interruption (so long as you aint entering a dungeon area anyways)?
thats...worth knowing, right? right?
alternatively enemies move about in battle. sometimes it pays to stall a spell so it hits more enemies at a time.
-shrug-
ok im out of things you should know.

Chrono Trigger not a very hard game. There's not really any necessary general advice. You can use whatever team of characters you want.
although i heard marle is one of the weakest characters. cant remember why tho.
Nah. She learns Haste. Instant top tier.
I have a message from another time...Marle is very good when she works. You can get screwed by bad luck, though. For example, Haste is great if you have time to cast it and recast it. It sucks if you get smited by the hammer of God before that happens.
Some people don't want to do deal with that.
The first team I beat the game with (IIRC, since it's been basically 20 years) was Crono, Ayla and Marle. Although, in later playthroughs, I greatly preferred to have Lucca instead of Ayla, as mentioned before.
It's rather amazing how fast you can become invested in a story or character.
Magus being Janus is....so fitting it's really perfect. I recall the one NPC saying Janus got sucked into a Gate too but I never imagined this. It makes so much sense and it's very, very intriguing. Also unexpected. Being unexpected counts for a lot since even as good as the story has been, it's been very "I saw that coming" for the most part. Granted this isn't the game's fault entirely. Point is, Janus = Magus is great and I'm glad I saved before fighting him. I was right on the money he wouldn't join my party if I fought him then. I knew Magus became a playable character at some point and was kinda "eh" about using him but now I HAVE TO use him. There is no other way. This reveal has really just changed everything for me in quite a few ways.
I used Marle a fair bit. Antipode with Lucca all day long~
(Although Ayla is pretty awesome too)
someday we will foresee obstaclesIt always struck me as funny that more than half your party is using an alias for one reason or another. I've always wanted to rename them to their actual names to screw up the plot, but Robo's real name is too long.
I think I used his serial number once instead.
Click Click Boom BoomFor bonus points, naming him R-66Y makes Marle sound insane.
I have a message from another time...I'm so glad for that. There's nothing that turns me off of JRP Gs like random battles. After beating Chrono Trigger and loving it, I tried to play Wild Arms and I ended up quitting early on because the sheer number of random battles (and the unnecessarily long intros to such inconsequential battles) frustrated me and discouraged me to explore much of anything, which is necessary for proceeding in the game.

this place needs me herethe remake of the first game, and the 3rd game at least, allows you to skip encounters on a button press. though, there are limitations (you cant keep doing it indefinately but the bar that allows you do so refills over time and does so instantly in dungeons when you run into spheres that are all over the place)
The only reason I was hesitant to use Magus is because I thought he would be a Game-Breaker.
Spoiler:He wasn't.

It's a shame there are almost no Double or Triple Techs he can take part in. His versatility made him one of my favorite characters to use.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"Started on some of the endgame sidequests. Decided to go with the "Rainbow Shell" one first. Following a guid ebecause I figure this is out-of-story stuff and might be pretty hard.
I'm in the old Reptile lair and forgot all about the sidequest because I can Charm these two Fossil Apes for Megalixirs and just keep respawning them all day. They're pretty much right there at the entrance too so that makes it even easier. Figure I'll stock up on around 30 at least as a solid "in case of emergency" reserve item.

Yeah. I pretty sure that it only became the Fanfare theme in Chrono Cross, and was originally here theme.
I totally forgot there was an anime short.
One Strip! One Strip! If you are playing the SNES version, you might want to go to options and set for the combat to the 'wait' mode. The DS give you an option at new game, but I believe the original just use the default. This ensure time won't pass during battle while you are navigating the menus.
Furthermore, you might want to pay attention to bosses attack patterns. In particular, many have devastating counter attacks that have rather specific triggers. The battles can become considerably harder if you don't notice that.
Other than that, the game is rather easy, actually. If you have experience with JRPG there shouldn't be much trouble.
Hmmm, I don't remember it being that hard. Just go around exploring the world map (specially the places you haven't gone yet) and talking to everybody. You can check with the old man in the End Of Time to know when all the side quests are finished.
That said, Lucca mini quest can be quite hard. It is actually really easy, but you are on a clock and might not understand what to do on time.

Maybe I'm just bad at video games, but there were a number of bosses I had quite a bit of trouble against. Dalton, the Mud Imp, and Giga Gaia chief among them.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"I remember having trouble with Giga Gaia the first time I played, but I was playing essentially blind, as I couldn't read almost anything. Never had trouble again after learning English.

Now I remember: Chrono Trigger wasn't released outside of Japan and America until the DS version, right?
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"Dunno. Not many console/portable games are ever released here anyway (we use the American location). And the European version rarely gets a Portuguese translation (Spanish, yes, Portuguese no). I am used to play games in English, that is how I ever done. That is half how I learned English in the first place.
PS:Also, I used to play on a emulator. Location was, therefore, not and issue at all.

Well that does actually make sense. I didn't really think about it.
Also everyone keeps telling me to use Ayla a lot. I already have been but apparently she is most valued for a move I had been ignoring up until now. "Charm" is "Steal" and apparently breaks the game. I'll have to start doing that during boss fights.
