Overpowered
I'm wondering if there's a full rip of the total CD library somewhere, especially since I've got a way bigger CD (or MP 3) collection than back then and I know DVDs no longer work.
I'm excited to pick it up when I've got time, MR 1 was my 'not a Pokemon game but it'll do' as a kid.

DVDs work for 3 and on, but for 1 and 2 it was CD-Only. DX has a CD database list but I have no idea how it works.
So you just... look through a database and go "oh hey. I totally have that CD" and then you get a monster?
Won't that just mean that once people figure out the best monsters tied to C Ds they'll just... get those?

Well, that was easier said than done back then. Even if you could track down a specific CD, that didn't mean it was the right one — sometimes it was only a certain printing of a CD that gave you that specific monster. Like Mellow Gold and Moo.
Now that we've got an internal database to work with, and places already working on compiling new master lists for DX, it's certainly easier to look things up and get a specific monster... provided you want to go that route. At the same time, though, nothing's stopping you from just... not doing that and exploring on your own. It's all up to personal preference.
I heard about people looking for the statistically worst monsters to get so there's that option too XD

available! There's some really odd ones in there like monsters with a lot of extra moves and single-digits stats.
You really have to wonder what the reasoning is behind a lot of these... if there was any. How many In-Jokes are involved...?
A new game, LINE: Monster Rancher, was announced in Japan. It features classic monsters like Centaurs, Undines, and Gaboos that can be generated through LINE friend lists, plus a new one in a sumo frog creature.
Today in 'weird crossovers' comes Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher, a crossover between kaijus and MR. And it IS coming out in English!

1 and 2 DX were released for Switch a couple days ago! I already have both games for PS1 but it's so cool to see them reaching a new generation of fans. (I was raised on MR2 and only got 1 fairly recently XD)
