I mean... there's an obvious assumption you're making there? I'm a PC gamer.
And, tbh, I don't think I particularly care if Epic's footing the bill for it. The result is the same; exclusivity of the game on their shitty platform that no one likes. It's still their same tactic; get as many exclusive deals on their platform so people *have* to put up with it.
Such behavior is nonsense and extremely anti-consumer.
Remaster is out.
Hope people enjoy it. Having a shitty week and would have loved to replay and enjoy new commentary on my favorite game but, well, corporate bullshit I guess... :/
So, is it a temporary exclusive or did they buy this one forever?
Bought forever.
By all accounts Epic funded the whole thing, and will fund one other project from Remedy outright, so it is likely that next one will skip Steam.
Hopefully it's a completely different property.
I'm going to be even more furious if I supported this game from it's Day 1 only to miss out on the sequel 15 years later.
It does seem that Epic is actually footing the entire bill to publish the game, rather than their usual routine of coming in at the end and offering a bunch of cash to be an exclusive. So while it's disappointing it wouldn't be on Steam, it sounds like the alternative would be no Alan Wake remastered and whatever the other project Epic is funding is.
