O_O That is one bitchin sword.

I think he's trying to one up Sephiroth, Garland and Cloud all in one go!!!!

The design looks a bit like some of Auron's sword models.

It reminds me of Garland's sword, without the form-changing joints.

So if he's a L'Cie, I can assume he's not the usual Gilgamesh.

And I was about to ask if this game was still slated to be in the same universe as XIII, but that reveal makes my question moot.

To me, this game is a sequel to Final Fantasy XIII in the same way that Vagrant Story is a Final Fantasy XII sequel.

Ah, so same world, stories far removed, eh?

Hm... is being a L'cie something you're born with? Or is it something that's applied to you later? I wonder if this could still be the usual Gilgamesh.

It's something that's applied later by a fal'Cie. They also assign you a Focus, but if you don't complete it, you turn into a Ci'eth, basically a zombie. On the other hand, if you do complete it, you turn into a crystal. So if this is the same Gilgamesh, it doesn't bode well for him...

The description so far says that Gilgamesh has long forgotten his Focus.

In which case he'll probably turn into a Ci'eth. Although maybe things work differently in this game, since I don't think this really takes place in the world of Final Fantasy XIII...

They aren't in the same worlds at all, they simply use some of the same basic ideas fore their lore.

Despite what some people think, Type-0 and Versus are not Pulse in the past or future. They are completely separate worlds.

I'm not sure the same rules about l'Cie apply in Oriens(he might still become a Cie'th but none of the game media has acknowledged their existence yet). For one Gilgamesh has actually forgotten his focus and gone berserk, and as far as the info I've heard he might not be able to use magic like l'Cie in XIII normally can because Genbu can only impart physical strength(the only reason Gilgamesh is able to lift that sword).

A new interveiw reveals several new tidbits

• The game may be delayed to a fall release
• SE wants the game to be released overseas and for it to be available on PSN.
• Some more gameplay info.
• The game will also be a music collaboration, but the interview didn't say with who.

Speaking of characters who look like other characters, Queen looks a lot like Jihl.

This game looks so awesome...I hope it gets released outside of Japan. I've already put up with Tales of VS, Fire Emblem 12, Valkyria Chronicles 3, and most likely The Last Story not getting translated, and I'm getting kind of sick of it.

That makes two of us. But this looks like it was a fairly major investment for Squeenix, so I can't really see it not being translated. Maybe that's my fanboyism overriding my better judgement though...
