What amateur RPGs should I try?

I was a big fan of both Last Scenario and Exit Fate, and found the storyline of Quintessence: The Blighted Venom compelling, while the gameplay was (unsurprisingly, given that it's incomplete) unpolished.

...And that's it when it comes to my experience with amateur RP Gs. Are there any other works out there that are comparably good? Nearly all the RPG Maker games with pages on this site are described as being in the top ten percent, but that doesn't seem like it's saying much.

Well, it's less of an RPG and more of an adventure game/visual novel, but Embric Of Wulfhammers Castle is a good one, though not one you'd want to play in company.

Biggest draw of it is the humor, though the romance is pretty well written, as well.

Well, I personally was fond of The Reconstruction, if only because I have never seen anything resembling the way it does stat development. It seems like a lot of people like Dhuxs Scar as well, but everyone says that it's a): really, really hard, and b): really, really gruesome.

I'm liking Embric Of Wulfhammers Castle (the romance doesn't do much for me, if anything it's a bit painful because I can't help but think of everyone who gets shortchanged in every ending,) but the humor is great. I'm a bit confused though; is there any way to make the whole 999 anti-paladins thing not terminate in an ending? It seems kind of silly to just leave that army waiting there.
