Sold 4286 units. The joke was that I wasn't sure if it would even beat Codename Steam. Here's a comparison for the other Fusion on up Metroid games.

People rag on Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE for its sales, but at least that was able to sell at least 25,000 in its first week.

I'm not even sure if it can be said that there was even profit for this. Maybe America and Europe will alleviate that.

I really hope so, because Metroid's dead otherwise.

I sure said that!

I mean, they could have done what Square and Capcom did with fangames/remakes of some of their IP (Deus Ex Revision, Street Fighter X Mega Man) and bought and officially published/licensed AM 2 R.

I guess Metroid is dead then.

I doubt the franchise is dead when this is a spinoff. Though I hope this happens Color Splash.

We also have to consider that Metroid is much more popular in North America than in Japan.

The franchise (probably) isn't dead, but it's going to flop hard in the west too. Not as bad as Japan since it should reach 5 digits, but still awful numbers that will make Other M look good.

Because Nintendo refuses to make something its consumers keep asking for, and instead they try to shove something else.

But knowing them, they may think Other M's poor reception was due to Samus herself, and not the craptacular way the game handled her character, coupled with the dumbed down and linear gameplay.

Oh well, skull in sigmoid colon syndrome.

As for the model sizes, it is a requisite for FPS gameplay. Otherwise, the enemies feel far too small. Also, nice to see Ridley once again being dwarfed by most other bosses. Because the meme is grating.

I think it's silly people are using the sales of a spin-off game to proclaim Metroid is a dead franchise. If this prospective Metroid Prime 4 that Federation Force seems to hint at (it's going to happen. They really need to find a development studio for it though) doesn't sell well, then I'd be concerned.

Maybe I just don't like assuming the worst, but I think Nintendo can follow some simple logic. Give crap to what was in the script of JP Fire Emblem Fates and you get a localization that does some good things and some bad things. I assume the reception to Federation Force is going to be the same way.

I'm pretty sure it sold better overseas than in Japan, where Metroid's not popular to begin with. Japan seems to only like Metroid for Samus.

FF isn't going to kill Metroid, just like Color Splash won't kill Paper Mario.

[up][up]I don't really see a reason to believe FF is a direct result of Other M.

@11792 Even if Nintendo gave the consumers what they wanted, it's not a guarantee they'll like it. There will still be people who would feel it's a complete rehash or some other feature that's been changed.

I'll probably never like the Zero Suit, but props to that first artist for making it look fairly reasonable.

The guy is right. Once you give Samus some proper weight to her it looks fine.

Now if only that ever happened.

Oh really when?

Do you have friends with the game? If so, then I'd say go for it. If not, wait a bit. It's similar to Triforce Heroes in that it's experience is better with others but is playable single player.

I don't really have, like, an issue with Samus wearing a blue bodysuit under the Power suit- That's a pretty stock sci-fi thing and regardless of what the Power Suit is made of I doubt having it poking into you would be comfortable, though yadda yadda Other M heels.

Samus is a little too slender in the official depictions- I'd imagine her having a toned, athletic build, more like a gymnast- But I'm not 100% upset with the Zero Mission-onward look since we at least finally have a definitive appearance for her, as long as it took.

I sure said that!
